Gloria: Color me green with envy tell us more!
Karen: Gladly! The opening scenes are a montage of the glitz and glitter of Las Vegas today, interspersed with shots of the glory days of Vegas, the Rat Pack, the shows the city is famous for, and music by Elvis and Dean Martin throughoutvery stylish and flashy, giving us a hint of the tone of the show. The pilot opens with James Caan purposefully walking down a hotel corridor, holding a gun and accompanied by three menacing guys in dark suits. Caan uses a key card to open the door of a suite. Josh is in bed with a beautiful blonde, who looks up at James Caan and says, Hi, Daddy! Josh covers his face and groans to the audience, Welcome to the worst day of my life! James Caan gets top billing, but the show is actually built around Joshs character, Danny McCoy, the Vice President of Surveillance and Security for the hotel and casino. Josh notes that you should never sleep with the boss daughter, especially when the boss is Big Ed, formerly head of CIA counterintelligence and the greatest surveillance security man Vegas has ever seen! After his daughters warning not to hurt Danny or fire him, Big Ed leaves, and Danny demands to know why she didnt tell him that Big Ed was her father? The young lady, Delinda, tells him she thought it would be fun, and Danny is summoned to Big Eds office. To his surprise, instead of being buried alive in the desert the way they took care of things in the old days, Danny is welcomed to the family, and Big Ed promises if he sees him looking at another girl, hell kill him! Danny speaks to the audience as he goes about the business at hand, and we learn that he was born and raised in Neon City; he knows everybody, and everybody knows him. His best friend since childhood is Mary (played by Nikki Cox), a paid escortbut not a hooker! Another friend is Mike, who has a Masters degree in engineering but makes more money as a valet and limo driver, and keeps his ears open for any news that will help Danny with his investigations. Danny is summoned to a late dinner with the family, and muses that this is bad, Never sleep with the boss daughternever! When she arrives, Danny decides she may be worth getting killed for, after all! Big Ed wants to know Dannys intentions toward his daughter, but Delinda tells her dad she thought she would have as much sex with Danny and his cute little butt as possible, and when she gets bored, dump him! Mary later reads Danny the riot act, suggesting he can go back into the family business when Big Ed fires him, but Danny reminds her that he joined the Marines to get away from his dads construction biz. Big Ed keeps up the pressure about family, while Dannys dad is still in denial over the loss of his wife years earlier. Vanessa Marcil plays Sam, Samantha Jane, a clever young woman who Josh recruits to work at the hotel. Danny reflects on the dichotomy of his city and its denizens as he solves the case of a card counter getting info from a car hop, finds both the perfect 30th anniversary gift for a guest and a high roller whos trying to avoid gambling at the casino wheres been comped, and, with Marys help, convinces a bum in bunny slippers not to blow all the money he won at the blackjack table. Josh takes us on a wild ride and I cant wait to see more! Whew, hows that?
