UNFORGIVABLE…

Erica sits by Jack’s bedside and says this may all be her fault; if she had accepted his marriage proposal, he would have been with her, and maybe none of this would have happened, “Jack, if you don't come back to me, I swear I'll never forgive myself.” As Chris watches through the glass, Aidan comes up and grabs him as he demands, “Did you do this?” Stamp says he has every right to suspect him, but he didn’t do this, and he doesn’t want to talk about this now. Aidan reminds him that he heard him talking to his lowlife friend Flanders—he asked him how much it would cost to take care of Jackson! Chris insists he told him repeatedly not to do anything stupid, but Devane thinks maybe he changed his mind; he told Flanders there was one last thing he was going to try before he put anything into motion. Chris agrees, saying he spoke to Jackson face to face to give him a last chance to stay the hell away from Erica, to let her go. Devane points out that he was in Jack’s face at the community center, and looked like he was going to kill him. Stamp growls that if wanted him dead, he'd be dead. When Aidan says he almost is, Chris tells him people say things when they're angry, but Flanders has his own agenda with him because he put his brother away for armed robbery—he acted alone. Unconvinced, Aidan asks if there is any way that he could be responsible for this? Chris admits he stopped Flanders on his way out of town and told him there was a score he could help him settle, “So if there is blood in the water, it's because I put it there.” Aidan doesn’t care what's going on between him and his conscience; he just wants to know if Chris hired Flanders to shoot Jack? Chris insists he didn’t, but admits he told Flanders what he wanted to do to the man who cost him the woman he loves. He practically handed that guy a blueprint! Chris admits he hates Jackson with a vengeance, and blamed him for everything that happened in his life. When Aidan says he knows what that’s like, Chris argues that there’s no comparison; the woman Devane loved was murdered by a sadist, and the woman he loves chose another man before him. It was so long that he didn’t feel anything, and Erica woke him up. He could have blamed her for everything, but didn’t because he still loves her, “So I blamed him, and God help me, I wanted him gone; I wanted him dead!” Erica gasps as she comes out of Jack’s room and exclaims, “You did this? You shot Jack because I left you?” Stamp says he didn’t, but Erica just heard him confess! Chris maintains that he said he wanted him dead, but never would have done anything to hurt him, or Erica. Upset, Ms. Kane accuses Chris of knowing where Jack was and what was happening to him, but he swears he didn’t know. Erica repeats that Chris said he wanted him dead—he shot him and left him to die, “My god, how could I have been so wrong about you?” She lunges at Chris, and Aidan pulls her away as she shouts that the man she’s always loved is lying there in a coma, and Chris put him there! Jack may never wake up, and if he does, he may never be the same—because of him! Chris should stay away from them, because she never wants to see his face again! Chris leaves and Erica tells Aidan she actually laughed when Jack tried to warn her that Chris was a threat. Aidan insists that Chris didn’t do it; he feels responsible somehow, and there's a hell of a lot of guilt going around right now, but she can’t blame Chris for this because it’s not going to solve anything. Erica asks who would shoot Jack, and why? Aidan promises to find out, and when he does, they will pay!
