Gloria: ITA, why would they do this? I almost feel badly because Id mentioned we hadnt had a rape in a while and so it might happen this was not how Id have written it.
Karen: Does anyone at AMC care that we really dont want to see this storyline? Ive seen write-in campaigns to encourage a storylinecould we do anything to discourage this one?
Gloria: Its so hard to change in mid-stream with these storylines, they have been in place and everything is geared toward the end result so Im not sure theyd listen.
Karen: Do you know that the actress playing Carolyn, Jakes newest fiancée, is Amanda Hall Rogersthe daughter of Gil Rogers a/k/a The Evil Ray Gardner?
Gloria: Yes, I posted it the minute I knew! I wonder if the stars that were there at that time shared their experiences working with her dad now he was a mean fellow that was definitely not redeemable. Gil plays on Guiding Light every so often; hes the dad of one of the characters and he comes around at holidays, weddings, etc.
Karen: Duh, I missed your posting! As to the other actors experiences with Gil, heres what I read on TvGuide.com:
Amanda Hall Rogers is following in her father's footsteps - literally. The daughter of Gil Rogers, who originated demonic Ray Gardner on All My Children, is popping up in Pine Valley in a role that's a lot more angelic. "I play Carolyn, a doctor Jake met while he was working in Chechnya," she says, adding that her presence will create a big surprise for the Martin family. "The way my hair is styled and my demeanor, I look like the perfect woman." Being on the set meant crossing paths with actors who had worked with her dad in years past. "I reintroduced myself to Michael E. Knight (Tad), who I hadn't seen in 12 years, and he said, 'Yeah, I know who you are. We're soap siblings. My dad is your dad.'"
Rogers wasn't allowed to watch her father's performances on All My Children when she was a child "because his character was so evil. Women used to push their carriages away from him in the street," she chuckles. But Daddy can't wait to see his little girl make her debut on his alma mater. "Amanda has a great Shakespearean background and, like her mother Margaret Hall, has done many of the famous Shakespeare roles," says proud papa Rogers. "To see it come full circle, and have her be on my soap in scenes with Tad, my [on-screen] son, is a lot of fun."
