All My Children Daily Dish

From Gloria and Karen

Karen: Mama Mia, that must have been some kiss! One kiss from Tad prompts Liza to leave Adam, and renders Mia speechless—I’d say our boy has it happening in more places than his thighs!

Gloria: Our (thanks for sharing!) boy has it all! Believe me, all he’d have to do is give me one of his grins or smirks and my heart would melt. Mia doesn’t have a chance against his charm!

Karen: I loved the surprise wedding in the chapel, complete with Father Claude! I know you were rooting for Brooke and Edmund, but I especially enjoy tender and/or passionate scenes between Edmund and Maria (likewise Hayley and Mateo)—just knowing these actors go home together and have loving relationships as their characters do onscreen. I want Brooke to have someone, too, but you can’t deny that John and Eva sizzle together, on and off screen!

Gloria: Yes, it was lovely and I’ll be “okay” with them together and I know that I’m in the minority and they do make a great super couple! I’m ready to give up on Brooke and Edmund, just hope they give Brooke someone soon.

Karen: I liked the touch of Hayley sending Maria’s dress along with a note to explain their absence, and wonder if what we’re seeing could signal the start of the new writing regime (as in “everything old is new again” <grin>)? I think we all like to hear familiar names mentioned, as when Ruth was visiting Kelsey recently, and wish they would do it more often to remind us of the ties to the past. Do you know how many years it’s been since Joe and Ruth mentioned Tara, Jeff or Paul?

Gloria: That comes with writers that have been around for a while. It’s really hard if you don’t really know the history of the characters to put in a blurb or two about those that are living someone else other than Pine Valley. I'm not making excuses, but all writers should go back and become familiar with the past.

Karen: While I’m on that rant, I know storylines are dropped before they’re fully developed, and some revived after we thought they were dead, but I’m still annoyed at what they did with Frank Hubbard’s character. Don’t get me wrong—I was glad to see that one dropped, but nothing was ever said about where he went. (That’s right up there with the “Bobby waxing his skis in the attic” myth!) Boyd moved into Myrtle’s, so we know the room was vacant, but couldn’t they have dropped a one-liner to acknowledge that, maybe, the room is available because Frank got a terrific opportunity somewhere, or joined Doctors Without Borders?

Gloria: In this particular case, I bet you are the only one that cares whether or not there was a one-liner to explain his disappearance. <grin> It’s a shame, though, that they are so quick to change a storyline that they just let things go like this…this prevents the character from returning (and then, again, sometimes, not!).

Karen: What did you think of Maria’s dress? Eva could look good in a Hefty bag, but I didn’t care for the gown.

Gloria: That is exactly what I thought…it really takes a great body to pull off a dress like that. If I looked like that…well, no, probably not.

Karen: So Erica tells Jack no force could ever come between them, huh? I think Mary’s a force to be reckoned with!

Gloria: And Mary thinks so too!

Karen: Don’t you think it’s odd that Bianca hasn’t come back to the hospital to wait with Erica?

Gloria: Let’s hope by Friday????

Karen: I know you like Mia, and I do, too, but this isn’t the first time I’ve mentioned that I don’t like the way she comes out swinging. Yes, she was raised differently than other women in Pine Valley, but the way she addresses issues with her fists speaks to a lack of class that has nothing to do with social distinctions.

Gloria: I think that she, herself, must enjoy boxing and so they have chosen that as her “thing.” Like with Henry playing the guitar???? I’ll have to read that article about Amelia again and see if it mentioned boxing.
