All My Children Daily Dish

From Gloria and Karen, for About.com

Karen: I just broke up laughing when Mia asked, “Murder? I don’t understand; you said your family was from Philadelphia—was that a lie?” Has someone told Ms. Saunders that offspring of Philadelphians can’t be murderers?

Gloria: I just sat there and listened on that one!

Karen: So, Carlos saved another young girl from a sexual assault—the girl he was madly in love with when he was…fourteen? Of course I’m glad when any young woman escapes an attack, by whatever means, but they’ve made it sound like the love of his life, when his life was barely beginning! Why exactly was what he did wrong? He protected Teresa, there was a fight, and Sergio was killed. Again, no premeditation or intent—his youthful act hardly compares to what Michael has done and tried to do.

Gloria: Can you say flimsy excuse for a storyline?

Karen: The brothers are Juan Pablo and Juan Carlos Renato Ruiz De Vasquez, and Tad called Juan Pablo “Mr. Ruiz” yesterday. Do you understand how the Latin surnames are used? I sure don’t!

Gloria: I’m not sure I even care…

Karen: Woody should have kicked Mary to the curb years ago! He cut her out of his will, yet he said Greenlee was now a wealthy woman—while he’s still alive and kicking! Now what’s Mary going to do?

Gloria: Get a job??? Cough, cough!

Karen: I did love Tad’s sly reference to a windmill!

Gloria: Tad can’t be beat!

Karen: We neuter dogs who have committed no crime—why can’t we do the same with animals who do?

Gloria: Almost doesn’t seem right, does it?

Karen: When did Tad become a pompous jerk, and Simone the voice of reason? Was today a fantasy—will Tad the Cad step out of the shower when I wake up? (If only!) <grin> Between Tad and Mia, who suddenly looks down on anyone who lies about why they came to town (duh!), I’m ready to scream! Let’s just hope there aren’t many glass houses in Pine Valley…

Gloria: I agree. What was that all about?

Karen: If Kendall learns of Bianca’s pregnancy, don’t you think even she would agree that terminating the pregnancy is the right thing to do? Bianca already seems to feel a connection, albeit not the kind of connection a welcome pregnancy should produce, and I’m very afraid she is going to lean the way of the right-to-lifers rather than exercising her right to choose differently.

Gloria: For sure…I felt she was looking at herself more as “having a baby” than just being “pregnant” so I think they are leaning toward her NOT terminating the pregnancy. But, then again, maybe it’s all smoke and mirrors. I’m trying to think when they actually had the last abortion…Erica’s years ago????

Karen: I had read that “Jack’s family continues to grow”, but was surprised by what are obviously adoption papers for Reggie to sign. I guess I already thought of him, as Jack does, as family. Do you think Reggie’s right about the timing of this, to protect him in case Jack can’t be around?

Gloria: Yes, I think Jack is protecting Reggie while implementing Plan A????

Karen: A TV movie from several years ago comes to mind when I run down the list of everyone who wants to see Michael dead. It was called “Killing in a Small Town”, starring Brian Dennehy, and was based upon an actual case where the most hated and feared man in town was killed. If I remember correctly, everyone in town stepped forward and confessed to the crime, making it impossible to convict any one person of murder. Now, in Pine Valley, how cool would it be if that’s what everyone on the “possible suspect list” came forward and did?!?

Gloria: So very cool! I love Brian Dennehy—was he the killer?
