David points at JR and says that's the young man who assaulted him. Babe cries out that her husband is innocent, and Tad notes Hayward probably deserved it! Adam asks the officers for a minute to sort this all out. He takes David out to the foyer and orders him to drop the charges against his son before he tears his throat out! David can't do that until they have a very serious discussion about who killed Michael Cambias-if he wants to keep his son out of the slammer, he'll negotiate, and quickly! He goes back into the living room as Officer Lyman is cuffing JR in front of his distraught wife. Opal asks if they can't serve and protect someplace else, and Sean tells her to back off! Mary notes, "And here I thought Babe's soiree was going to be boring!" Babe protests that JR didn't do anything, and the other officer tells her he'd hate to haul in a mother-to be. Tad restrains her as Krystal steps forward and says she was a witness to the fight; JR was minding his own business, and that man attacked him! David doesn't know her well enough to call her a liar, but she left the bar before JR hit him. Krystal insists she did not; she heard him antagonizing her son-in-law, and he threw the first punch. She calls on the officer to arrest David, but JR tells her to just drop it-he hit Hayward first! This jerk was ragging on him about his mom, and he'd do it again in a heartbeat! David retorts that he meant no disrespect to Dixie; JR was drunk and itching for a fight, something to do with trouble at home? Tad holds JR back as he shouts that Hayward trashed her life, and says now is not the time, "Beating him to a pulp is not going to solve any of your problems with your wife or your brother."
Adam's sure this is a misunderstanding he and Dr. Hayward can work out in private. As Sean tells him to come down to the station, Babe begs Pops to do something! Adam says it's late, and their shift is almost over-think of the paperwork he can save them! He suggests they go with Winifred for some coffee and chocolate cake, and the officers go with Winifred. JR says this is the great Adam Chandler at work! Is he going to buy them off? Adam thinks there are other ways to deal with Dr. Hayward other than money or fists, "Why don't you comfort your bride?" He suggests they get this over with, and David follows him to the library. Krystal tells JR she was kind of hoping he'd go along with her story and show the not-so-good doctor this family sticks together. JR asks if she means the lie about David hitting him first? That takes real talent, and her daughter learned from the best! Krystal protests she was only trying to help. JR needs some air, and goes outside. Babe follows him and insists he put on his coat. He tells her it's cold out here, and that can't be good for the baby, but Babe refuses to leave-she'll never leave him! He can be all snarky and rude just like his Pops, but he can't push her away because he loves her as much as she loves him. She's going to prove this is his baby, and then they can be a real family-she'll make sure of that! She guides his hand to her belly and tells JR to feel him-this is their baby, his baby, and she will not let him walk out on him or on her!
David says Adam's been hinting to Erica that he had something on her, that he saw her the night Cambias disappeared. When Adam says he did, David wants to know what he was doing that night, and where was he doing it? He might be called to testify at Kendall's trial; if he is, David doesn't want him to so much as breathe Erica's name! Adam doubts he'll be called, but if he is, he has no intention of mentioning Erica. David wants a guarantee that he will not incriminate Erica in any way to save himself. Adam asks what he's implying? Tad comes in with Palmer and says he thinks he knows. Palmer agrees if he dares to hurt Erica, "I'll shoot you again, you old bastard, and next time I'll shoot to kill!"
