All My Children Fan Club Luncheon
Our Arrival

As a member of the All My Children Fan Club, my daughter and I attended the event, along with a packed room of other AMC fans. We headed out from Maryland at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2001, drove to Princeton, NJ, to catch the 8:27 a.m. train to New York City. We arrived at Penn Station at approximately 9:30 a.m. and decided to walk, since it was such a nice day, the few blocks to the hotel instead of taking the Metro...a few blocks??? Tell that to my feet!

We arrived at the hotel a little after ten o'clock, got our ID bracelets and our little goodie bag from Susan Lucci, who, unfortunately, was not able to attend the event.  To show Ms. Lucci's appreciation to the fans, she was kind enough to leave something for each fan that attended. The bag contained a clamp curling brush and a brush cleaner tool, along with samples of her Multi-fix Plug Leave-In Spray, Super-Lite Rinse and Radiance, a deep conditioning hair treatment. We grabbed a copy of each of the available soap opera magazines that were free for the taking, although we were a "Tad" upset that a free bag was not made available to us to carry our larger goodies around, maybe next year they will be.

We decided to buy a $5 chance on the "big" prize, which was a tour of the AMC set. A tour that is usually reserved for VIP's and thought what a nice prize for a member of the fan club. I will not keep you in suspense, I did not win. Trust me, that would have been the best $5 I had ever spent!

The second "nice" prize was the opportunity to move to the front of the line for autographs at this event. Oh, would I have liked to have won that one, too! I came close, but more on the winner of that prize later!

While other fans were arriving, we decided to check out the items that would be included in other All My Children memorabilia drawings. Each ticket sold for $1 and we had decided that we wanted the SOS menu with photos of Hayley and Mateo and tried to win a script or two. Needless to say, we did not win any of them!

Each item is numbered and then you choose an item and place the ticket in the corresponding numbered cup. The tripods behind the cups are clothing items that were included. There were many photos, props, clothing, including a thong wore by Ryan (which got quite a lot of attention!), scripts and much more available.

 The Raffles

We then stopped over at the clothing table to buy a few T-shirts; we wanted red this year, for a change. I wanted a mouse pad, but there were none of Edmund alone!

Here is the ballroom with all the beautifully set tables, ready for the fans to be seated. The fans were gradually finding their tables and getting ready for the stars to arrive. If you look at the top right, you will notice the dais or stage area where a long table with seating for each of the stars.

Tables are ready!
