I'LL DO ANYTHING FOR MY BOYS!
Vanessa sits on her bed admiring her jewel collection, trying to choose just the
right piece. She holds up a pair of ruby earrings, thinking aloud that they are
the color of blood, and the color of betrayal. She holds them up to her ears and
looks in the mirror, declaring the gems far too dramatic for sweet little Nessa.
"No, nothing says 'Mother' like pearls," she decides, as she hears a knock at
the door. She replaces the jewelry and puts it on the desk as her guard comes in
to tell her Mr. Kenyon is back. Mommy Dearest hugs her son and says she was so
hoping he'd drop by! Trey tells his mother she looks well, and she agrees,
considering this depressing weather! She says that he looks perky, and Trey
agrees he's in a good place now, thanks to her; her tip led them to the Proteus
stash. Nessa says she was heartbroken when Leo told her the stocks were
worthless, but Trey insists some good came of them; he and Leo are getting
closer, and turning in the stock certificates may have made him some points with
the D.A. Nessa dismisses the very idea of him going to jail just for pretending
to be someone else, and LawyerBoy shrugs it off, saying the worst that could
happen is community service. He thanks her for coming through for him, and Nessa
repeats that she would do anything for her boys. Trey says he's glad she feels
that way, because he has another favor to ask, "Tell me who my father is."
Va-Nessa ignores the question and looks at the lightning outside; she goes to
the phone and says she's going to order up a nice, cozy pot of tea for them!
Trey tells her to answer the question! Did his father know about him, and did he
make her give him up? "I told you, that was Vanessa," she protests. Trey takes
the phone from her hand and says he knows that, "She didn't want me and you did,
so help me out here." Va-Nessa declares that it was a lifetime ago, but Trey
argues he doesn't want details; if she'll give him a name, he'll do the rest. Va-Nessa
insists a name won't do him any good, and it will be a dead end. When Trey
reminds her she said she'd do anything for her sons, his mother cries that this
is so painful; she'd really prefer not to go back to that time. Trey seems to
back down, and apologizes for bringing that all back. Va-Nessa says he's so far
better off forgetting that he even had a father; Trey agrees with her, asking
what he even needs a father for when he's got two fabulous women in his life?
"Two?" she questions. Trey says that's what he came over here to tell her. He
knows she's not so crazy about her, but Kendall's a great girl. He doesn't know
how it happened or when, but he knows in his heart that she's it for him; when
he gets home tonight, he's going to show Kendall just how much he loves her! Va-Nessa
is becoming increasingly agitated as she says he'll sleep with Kendall over her
dead body! "Mother, what do you have against Kendall and me making it?" Trey
baits her. He says Kendall's wild and unpredictable, not to mention a babe. Va-Nessa
dismisses it as a passing phase; Trey retorts if it's passing, he'd better get
some! When he says he's over 21, she protests that he's too young for a
commitment; Trey teases that it hasn't come to that yet, but could. Sweet little
Nessa begs him to learn from her many mistakes. Kendall Hart isn't right for
him, and he should learn from her experiences. Trey demands to know what she's
got against Kendall, and why she's using her as a scratching post? Is he
supposed to believe she's just being an overprotective mother? Mommy Dearest
thinks he should trust her maternal instincts, but Trey says he's got instincts,
too. She won't tell him who his father is or why his hooking up with Kendall
gives her thrombosis, so he has to wonder, "What's the connection here?" He
tells her to close her eyes and listen to his voice, then tell him if it reminds
her of someone. "You must leave immediately! Please, get this message to your
chief," he recites, "Ring any chimes?" He tells her it's Richard Fields in
Tonight Is Forever, and continues that he's Kendall's father; she's the one who
told him they sound alike. He thought it was some wild coincidence until he saw
her start to sweat, and then he remembered she and Fields were banging around
Hollywood at the same time. "As were thousands of aspiring actors!" she puts in.
Trey notes that it's a small town. Surely she must have bumped into him at
someone's poolside party or something. "Mother, I have Richard Fields' voice,"
he concludes, "What else do I have of his? His eyes, his lips, his DNA? Is
Richard Fields my father?"
"Oh, Trey," she sighs, and calls Fields a reptile and a ham in a leisure suit;
that he could be Trey's father is absurd! Trey points out that he mentions
sleeping with Kendall and she has a gag reflex, "Even that demon Vanessa would
stop me from bedding my own half-sister!" He says she wouldn't have been the
first starlet to sleep her way onto the big screen; he knows who he's dealing
with here, and she's facing a string of charges longer than his arm! She
protests that was Vanessa, but Trey suggests that maybe she was there that night
that Vanessa hit the sheets with Richard Fields, and nine months later. Va-Nessa
shouts that he's happy he doesn't know who his father is, and he should stop
asking questions that he really doesn't want the answers to! Trey is relentless;
he says he'll hire a P.I., or go out to Hollywood himself to check out her old
stomping grounds and talk to some of her cronies at the retired actors' village.
She begs him to leave the past in the past, "Because if word should get out on
this, and if Erica should find out…." Trey asks why Erica Kane would care if she
had a fling with the man who raped her? "Just drop it!" she orders. "You're
scared, Nessa," he tells her, "You're scared that I'm close to something, and
it's more than just my paternity, isn't it? It has something to do with you and
Erica Kane." He demands to know why she's keeping his father hidden like some
dirty little secret, and what does Erica Kane have to do with any of this? Va-Nessa
cries that he has no idea of what he's asking her to do, and Trey finds that
amazing! She's been exposed as a drug lord, a kidnapper and assassin, but she
still has something to hide! He says she can trust him, as client-attorney
privilege still applies, and wants to know what deep, dark secret she's hiding?
Va-Nessa shouts that he can't make her go back there, "I didn't hear anything!"
The guard rushes in, asking what's going on in here? What did Trey do to her?
Trey tells him nothing; they were just talking. Gary thinks Trey should leave,
and he agrees, but tells his mother the truth is out there, and he's going to
find it! Alone, Vanessa looks out at the storm and thinks aloud, "I had to
leave; I had no choice!"
NOTHING A LITTLE BELUGA CAN'T FIX!
Opal arrives with flowers and gourmet delivery at the unfinished penthouse, as
Erica lights candles on a table beautifully and lavishly set for dinner and
romance. She thanks Opal for doing this, and her gal pal says she gladly comes
running when Cupid calls. She looks around and tells Erica it looks like she's
got all the trappings, "But where's the trappee?" She pulls Beluga and bubbly
from a bag as Erica says she's going to surprise Chris. Opal looks at her friend
and bets Erica's gown didn't just jump off Lacey's Ready-to-Slay rack! Erica
beams as she says she just wants to give Chris a night he'll never forget! Opal
comments that she used to 'put on the dog' like this, too, every time she and
Palmer had a squabble. Erica admits she and Chris did have a nothing little
tiff, but it's certainly nothing a little Beluga and candlelight can't fix. She
adds that she left a casual message, and he'll be here any minute. Opal hates to
be the splash of cold water, but if Chris is still fuming over this 'nothing
little tiff', it's possible he might not show. When Erica insists she knows her
man, Opal thinks it seems like she's kind of setting her man up to pass a test
he doesn't even know he's taking.
Erica dismisses Opal's theory, asking how high school is that? Opal retorts that
she knows her friend, and this kiss-and-make up date is just not her style; her
style is to make the guy shimmy over broken glass to beg her forgiveness, no
matter who did what to whom! Erica maintains that she's made a personal decision
to rise above this even though Chris is 100% wrong! Opal's not buying it, and
Erica goes on that Chris used all of his connections to track down her father
without her knowledge or permission; he thinks that maybe she wants to contact
him and reconcile. It came as quite a surprise, and not a very pleasant one!
Opal knows she'd rather walk barefoot over a bed of burning coals than do that,
but did she ever think this might be an opportunity to get some closure on all
this? Erica proclaims that she's not looking for closure, and there's nothing to
discuss. Chris is going to take one look at her and the subject of her father
will go right out of his head! She thanks her for coming, and turns away as she
says everything will be fine. Opal thinks that's her cue to scramola the scenola,
and Erica says Chris is going to be here any minute. Opal says good night and
leaves as the storm rages outside. Erica is left alone, obviously unnerved by
the thunder and lightning.
Opal and Myrtle share a drink against the storm, and Opal says Myrtle should
have seen Erica; she was rushing around like her whole future was riding on this
date with Chris; whatever's going on with that head of hers has nothing to do
with dinner! Myrtle says that's classic Erica; she finds a good man, becomes
very fond of him, and then she finds a way to make quite sure that it will
never, never work. Opal can't figure out what is so important about tonight.
"Well, let's say she has a date tonight with her past," Myrtle tells her. Opal
doesn't understand why Erica acts like her own worst enemy - putting her men
through hoops, just willing them to disappoint her. Myrtle tells her this
happens at this same time every year; her father's birthday comes right on the
heels of hers, and it stirs up all those terrible fears she has about being
abandoned. Erica's father hurt her very deeply, and Myrtle doesn't think she'll
ever get over it. Opal notes how nice it would be if you could just push a
button, and a big chunk of your past would just drop off into the trash bin.
Myrtle agrees it would, but then she would have to admit that it troubled her,
"And that proud young lady will never admit that the past haunts her." She moves
to the window and says she hates this weather - it makes her teeth chatter! She
wonders what havoc it's wreaking on Erica, and Opal thinks there must be
something they can do before this whole night rages out of control and she does
something she regrets. Myrtle laments that there's no use talking to her; she
knows Erica won't listen. "Well, how about this for an idea?" Opal begins. They
can head Chris off at the pass, and at least warn him that he's walking into the
Valley of the Shadow of Eric Kane! Myrtle asks if she's crazy? Erica would have
their heads! Opal asks what they can do? Myrtle tells her Erica's had her whole
life to make peace with her past, and it's still her prison. When Opal says she
thought Erica dealt with all of this at Betty Ford, Myrtle agrees she did, most
of it, but there are still some dark places that she can't bear to explore. Opal
says like her daddy walking out on her, and Myrtle exclaims, "Eric Kane - what a
lousy father!" She says he was never there when it counted, but his missing
another party wasn't the problem, "It's what he said, and the person he sent in
his place." They all know what happened at that party, but Erica still can't
admit to herself or to anybody else that she still blames her father for that
rape. Opal wishes she could conjure that Richard Fields back here right now so
she could spit on him and condemn him back to damnation! Myrtle tells her Erica
has more to fear than the memory of Richard Fields. It's much more serious than
that, "Until she can actually face and make peace with what her father did, I'm
just terribly afraid that the past is going to catch up with her."
Erica starts to call Chris, but angrily slams down the phone, saying he should
call her! She paces as she wonders what's keeping him, but tells herself he'll
be here - he will! She's startled once again by the lightning and thunder, and
recalls another stormy night in Chris' arms, telling him the night Richard
Fields raped her was a really stormy night, too, then forces her mind back to
the present and proclaims, "I am Erica Kane - I am not afraid of lightning! I am
not afraid of the past!" She jumps at the next bolt of lightning, and goes to
her phone to make a call. When Stamp answers the phone, she exclaims, "Chris,
finally! Where are you?" Chris is at the office, and she asks if he didn't get
the message to meet her here at the penthouse? He explains that he's busy; he
realizes she's mad, and asks her to just give him a clue! Erica angrily says
that maybe she just dialed the wrong number, and hangs up on him. She's again
frightened by the storm, and whimpers as she backs away from the window. She
sinks down against a wall and covers her face with her hands. She gets up, but
is terrified when the lights go out. She cowers behind a plant as she hears a
man's voice calling, "Erica? Erica, where are you?" She sees a man silhouetted
in the doorway; we see it's Trey, but she doesn't.
MY WIFE AND CHILD ARE FIGHTING FOR THEIR LIVES!
Leo arrives at the hospital as Jake tells David this hospital is off limits to
him, and the restraining order will be enforced. Hayward asks if he thinks he
gives a damn about a court order when his wife and child are fighting for their
lives? He insists they need him in there to help get through this; Leo tells
Jake no matter what he did, he can't kick him out of here at a time like this.
Maggie slips into the exam room as Anna sits up and desperately asks Joe if the
baby's all right? Dr. Martin tells her it's all up to her; she's got to stay
calm and bring her blood pressure down. They're doing everything they can for
her and the baby, but she has to learn to relax. As he suggests deep breathing,
Anna sees Maggie and greets her. Maggie moves to the bed and asks how she is;
Anna admits she's a bit scared. Maggie smiles broadly as she says she thinks she
has a fix for that right outside, "David's here, and he wants to see you."
Anna's eyes widen with fear as she tells Joe she doesn't want to see him; she
doesn't want him anywhere near her! Joe tries to calm her and the monitors beep
loudly as she orders Maggie to make him leave! Dr. Martin sternly says Anna is
under enough stress without David, and Maggie tells Anna she's really sorry. She
steps out of the room as Jake and David continue to argue, and tells David she
doesn't think he should go in there, "She said she doesn't want to see you,
David. Dr. Joe said she's already on stress overload; I don't think it's the
best idea." Jackson has been watching this exchange, and steps forward as David
protests that he knows Anna better than anyone, and knows just what to say to
calm her down and ease her fears. Jack repeats that Anna doesn't want him here,
but Hayward argues she's confused and doesn't know what she wants. "Well, let me
tell you what she doesn't want," Montgomery continues, "You, anywhere around her
or the child she's carrying." David angrily says he doesn't know a damned thing
about him, his wife, or his child! Jackson knows he's the reason she's in this
hospital! If he wants to prove he cares about his wife and baby, he should back
the hell off! David tells Jack to back off, and Maggie notes he's making a
spectacle outside her room. Leo agrees he knows David wants what he wants, but
he's got to do what's best for Anna now. He's got to do what Jake said - keep
his cool, and his distance. Hayward tells Jake he wins, but he at least wants to
stay in the hospital so he can be close by in case anything happens. He tells
Martin to put a guard on him if he has to, but he's got to be here, "I mean, you
know what it's like to lose a child." Jake agrees to let him stay, with the
warning that he'll call the cops and enforce the restraining order if he steps
one foot inside Anna's room. David and Leo leave as Jack glares at David's back.
Joe comes out of the exam room, and Jake asks his father how Anna is. Joe tells
him she's stable and her blood pressure is under control. As to the baby,
they'll just have to watch and wait. When Maggie thinks aloud that someone
should let David know what's going on, Joe is surprised that he's still here.
Jake explains that he let him stay if he promised to behave himself; Joe leaves
to find him and bring him up to date. Jack asks if he can see Anna? Jake says
yes, she was asking for him, but he's got to keep it short. Jack thanks him and
goes in, telling her that Joe said she was feeling a little bit better. Anna
nods, and says she hears he was the one that found her collapsed in a heap.
Jackson agrees that he was the lucky guy, adding that she gave him quite a
scare; Anna admits she's scared, too. Jack assures her she doesn't have to worry
about Hayward; he's still lurking around here somewhere, but he promises he
won't bother her. Anna wipes away a tear as she says she can't really blame
David for this - she brought it all on herself. Jack doesn't believe that, but
Anna knows she did. She stood her ground against him and walked away, but still
let him get to her and her baby.
Leo and David go into the chapel, and Leo admonishes his brother to show some
respect. "Oh, please, like He's really listening!" David exclaims. He continues
his rant, that there are things he needs for Anna to know. He insists it can't
wait. Anna thinks he cares about only himself and this baby; he wants her to
know that he would give up anything - his career or his life - to make sure she
was all right, "And that anything that happened between us today doesn't change
one iota about my love for her!" Joe comes in, apologizing for intruding, but
able to tell David Anna's going to be all right. When Hayward asks about the
baby, Joe says they're not so sure. She's suffering from stress and exhaustion,
and her blood pressure spiked right up into stroke territory; that's what put
the baby at risk. When David wonders if she asked for him, Joe tells him she
specifically asked for him to stay away. He says he's sorry, and he'll keep him
posted. Joe leaves, and Leo tells his brother he's sorry. David replies that he
shouldn't be sorry, Jackson's right; if anything happens to this baby, it will
be his fault.
Jack knows ending up in here was a tough break, but she can't blame herself.
Anna wonders who else she can blame? She's been living and breathing this case
against David, and has just run herself into the ground. The D.A. says that
stops right now, because he's taking over this case, "He's not your problem
anymore, he's mine." Anna acquiesces, but says he'll still need her deposition.
Jack laughs as he tells her he doesn't need it right now! From now on, he wants
her living and breathing this life that's growing inside of her. Anna grumbles
that she's not a very good patient; Jack figured that, and says for her sake and
that of the hospital, they're going to get her out, home and settled as soon as
possible. Chief Devane asks what about work, and Jack teases that she'll only
handle tiny cases like missing cats and crop circles. That gets a laugh, and she
wipes her tears as Joe comes back in. He has good news - her blood work is fine,
and her baby is fine. Anna's tears turn to those of joy at learning her baby is
going to be all right.
Confused, Leo asks if this whole thing with Anna and the baby is his mess? What
did he do this time? David explains that he and Anna had a run-in today; she
caught him with some evidence, but the point is that he pushed her to the limit
and she pulled a gun on him. Shocked, Leo asks what the hell he was thinking?
David admits he was thinking about saving his own backside, and now their baby's
in trouble because of his overwhelming stupidity. Leo's got to hand it to his
brother, "When you go too far, you really go too far!" He tells David Anna's not
going to lose the baby, and he should just focus on her right now, and give her
some time and space. David tells Leo he loves him, but needs some time alone
right now. Leo leaves him, and David prays, "Lord, I've been told I do a pretty
good impression of you. I always believed about aiming high, but I've learned a
really valuable lesson lately; there's only so far I can go. I'm not you; I'm
not all-powerful." He kneels and continues that he's down on his knees, and he's
begging, "Please, please save my child." Leo comes in with Jake and says there's
good news - the baby's going to make it. David smiles up at the altar and wipes
his eyes. He turns around, and Jake tells him Anna's pregnancy is not risk free
but, for now, everything is under control. David thanks him, and Jake almost
smiles as he nods and leaves. David breathes a sigh of relief, and Leo notes
that life works out sometimes. He stops David as he's about to leave, asking
where he's going? "Where do you think?" Hayward asks him, but Leo tells him
that's not an option; if he goes barging in there right now, that's it - he's
cutting him off. He means it; he'll give up on him! This is his one chance to do
the right thing for Anna and the baby, and put them first. He tells David to
come with him, and Hayward does, but reluctantly.
Joe tells Anna her latest ultrasound shows a healthy, thriving baby. They'll do
amnio as a precaution later in the pregnancy, but she must avoid stress - it's
crucial if she wants to carry this baby to term. He goes to see if her room is
ready, and Jack is pleased to see how much better she feels. Anna smiles as she
says she didn't realize how much she wanted this baby. All of her doubts are
gone, and she can't wait to be a mom again. Jack knows Robin put in an order for
a baby brother, and questions if she's going to find out the sex of this child
before it arrives? When Anna admits she hasn't thought about it, Jack asks if
she's going to dress the kid all in beige and fill the nursery room with all
gender-neutral toys? Anna replies that she played with trucks and steam shovels,
and she turned out all right! Jack thinks she turned out better than all right,
and shares that he knew this kid down South that used to sneak into his girl
cousin's dollhouse. Anna laughs as she asks what happened to him, and Jackson
tells her that eventually he became an inveterate flirt and confirmed bachelor.
"And a soft-hearted D.A.," Anna adds with a smile. Jack denies it, but says he
still remembers finding Malibu Barbie in that red convertible! David and Leo
walk by Anna's room and hear the laughter; once again Leo has to hold his
brother back.
Jack reminisces that Malibu Barbie was a total babe, but Anna argues that she
was a bleached blonde with a boob job and a parking space at Spago! Outside the
room, Leo tells David that Anna has her orders, and he has his; he's got to stay
away. David grumbles that Jack is in there acting like the father, when he
should be in there instead. As they start to leave, David hears the conversation
turn from Barbie to evidence when Anna tells Jack she thinks they've got what
they need to put David away; it's the evidence that got her here in the first
place. It's on her desk, and she forgot about it. Jack assures her they'll get
it tagged before it falls into the wrong hands. We can see the wheels turning in
David's head….

Quote of the Day:
Trey: "Hey, worst case scenario, I'll plead down, and end up picking up garbage
along the highway."
Nessa: "Well, I suppose the fresh air could do you good."
OBSERVATION OF THE DAY:
"I had to leave - I had no choice!"????? Is this leading up to the revelation that Vanessa was there the night Erica was raped?
--KarenWell, I think we can safely assume that Richard Fields is Trey's biological father, can't we? So, who is this guy? We've established that he's not Trey Kenyon; he was adopted and given the name Ben Shepard; so was he ever "Baby" Fields? Was there a Ms. Fields? Anyone for a cookie?--Gloria
Next on All My Children:
Leo offers to get rid of the evidence for David.
Hayley tells Brooke she doesn't think she should just give up Edmund without a
fight.
Aidan tells Maur-ia she can't leave.
Erica knocks Trey out.
