Gloria and Tad - Is it Over?Dateline: 07/20/97 Tad, the cad. That's it! Tad is really earning that title. Even though I'm "tickled pink" because their break-up, I have a problem with Tad's making Gloria choose between he and Dimitri. No one has the right to tell someone else with whom they can or cannot be friends. Of course, we know that Dimitri (and Gloria, if she would only realize it) wants more than friendship. Tad certainly has no self-confidence. Tad's actually afraid of Dimitri's interest in Gloria. But, then, Gloria lacks insight into Dimitri's feelings. Can't she see Dimitri's lonely and that she fills a void and why not add romance to it! I hate to say this, but I am relieved, that Gloria and Tad just didn't cut it. No sparks, no longing looks, just two people of opposite sex, not a couple. Even when they first started dating, "it" just wasn't there. Well, I'm happy, Dimitri is supposed to tell Gloria this week that he's falling for her. I hope Gloria responds with open arms. Hooray for ultimatums! Wonder, is it time to bring back Dixie??? Liza Colby is pregnant (how about Marcy Walker - rumor has it that she is). Liza and Tad are now friends again and I'm sure Tad will help Liza through this. Boy, another coup for Adam, how virile he is. David Canary (Adam) is one of my favorite actors, so I'm happy that this has happened so that he and Liza will perhaps become close, even for a short time. Janet and Trevor finally locked lips. I'm starting to believe in Janet and forgive her (never thought I'd say that). Amanda is so happy, she thinks they will move in together, such young, innocent beliefs. Amanda certainly is very manipulative for six years old. It's only a matter of time... Hayley and Mateo are back, Bobby and Anita are gone. The reunion was short and sweet. Bobby has forgiven Kelsey, Kelsey is changing her ways, thanks to her and Erica, Edmund and Maria have two children. Isn't life grand? Now, will Maria die in that plane crash or will her body not be found?? I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that Erica Kane's book, Having it All (check out my bookstore) has gone into its second printing (at least on the program). All My Children Cast News Joe Grifasi will be playing the role of Mr. Gale, a food critic that reviews Holidays. His appearance on AMC will be the week of August 4. He has appeared in such films as "One Fine Day," "The Money Train," "Batman Forever," "The Hudsucker Proxy," and "Benny & Joon," among others. He's also done tons of guest appearances on TV shows, including Chicago Hope and Early Edition. Sydney Penny (Julia Santos-Keefer) is coming back for a brief visit. Sydney will come to Pine Valley on August 27 and 28. Needless to say, she will be back for Maria's demise. Of course, the witness protection program will not be jeopardized. Don't all these newly arranged lives get a chance to visit their real families??? I wouldn't think so, oh, I forgot, this is daytime drama at it's best! It now appears that Maria really isn't leaving on July 18, like it was reported everywhere. Could take a couple more weeks. Ms. Callahan is leaving the soap because she's been cast in the new UPN situation comedy Head Over Heels. The show will air on Tuesday evenings, and will be taped in California, busy commuting back and forth - what's that mean for her hubby?? Esta Terblanche has been cast in the contract role of Gillian, a young but sexy and sophisticated woman from Europe. She played in a South African soap opera Egoli--Place of Gold. She was born and raised in South Africa and was the 1991 Miss Teen South Africa. Her first airdate will be August 21. Alumni: Watch for Kelli Taylor (Taylor Roxbury-Cannon) when she goes into the future -- the year 2157, in her latest role. Taylor stars in the original Sci-fi Channel S series "Mission Genesis," which premieres on Monday, July 21. Taylor plays Gret, a "moonchild," a clone of a colonist from the Moon. I don't know about all of you, but for me, other good news is on the way! Especially, since I'm a big fan of actor Roscoe Born. He's coming to Pine Valley on August 1 as Jim Myers (he has a contract role). He'll play a man from Laura's mysterious past. Roscoe Born played Nick Rivers on the now defunct "The City." I'm looking forward to his arrival. Now, let's all speculate - a love interest for whom? Brooke (she's Pierceless AND Laura's "mother"), Janet (Laura's "cabin" friend), or will he give Adam a run for his money with Liza???? Now that we know Liza can sing (remember in the hospital), they could make an album together!! On Monday, July 21, Susan Pratt (Barbara Montgomery) will make a special guest appearance. She and Erica will come together because of a traumatic situation involving Bianca (Nathalie Paulding). Do you think Travis will be far behind? After all, they only live in Seattle. Actor John Cullum, a star of stage, screen and television, has been cast in the role of Judge Barnes. He starts August 1, and will be overseeing Erica Kane's kidnapping trial. You will know him from Northern Exposure in the role of Holling Vincoeur, the bartender. He's been on Law & Order, Buck James, The Day After, Quantum Leap, Euqlizer and Spencer for Hire. You've seen him in the movie, The Secret Life of Algernon. On stage, he's created roles on Broadway in On the 20th Century and Shenandoah. He has also appeared in Showboat, Aspects of Love, Whistler, Man of La Mancha, Hamlet, Camelot, Follies, and most recently in the off-Broadway revival of All My Sons. Mr. Cullum is one of the most impressive guest stars to land in Pine Valley in a while. If we could only create and on-going storyline for him. |
