Q. Do I have to register to use the forums?
A. You can enter as a guest and read posts, but you must register before you can post or answer a post that's already there. Registering is quick, simple, and free. Please join us.
Q. Are there any types of posts that are prohibited here?
A. We will delete any spam or commercial posts. Please do not post to sell something or involve anyone in a money-making proposition. Flames or rude / insensitive remarks will be removed. Users who are disruptive may be gagged at the Guide's discretion.
Q. May I promote my product or Web site here?
A. As with most places on the Internet, you may make your URL part of your "signature" by typing it under your name at the end of your posts, but please do not place commercial posts on the forum. They will be considered spam and be deleted. YOU MAY NOT ADVERTISE ANY OTHER SITE ON THIS FORUM. This is not a place for advertisements such as; products, boards, chats, other sites, i.e., if you have your own chat room or forum, you MAY NOT ANNOUNCE your events here on the forum.
Q. Why can't I flame other posters?
A. Personal attacks (flaming) against any forum member is not allowed. You may comment on any AMC character you wish, but if someone has a different view and you are rude, obnoxious, or cruel to anyone who posts on the forum your posting abilities may be taken away. THERE WILL BE NO NAME CALLING! Helpful hint: If someone attacks you, please send a violation report (under "options") and let me handle the situation. Do not respond in anger as that may result in a warning to you.
Q. Why can't I curse in this forum?
A. Please refrain from cursing. If you feel the need to curse then please be kind to others by placing a * within the word. I do, however, discourage this practice. I have now placed a word filter to prohibit vulgarity on this forum. Nor can you post sexually explicit posts or polls, they will be removed immediately. It's just plain rude and crude.
Q. May I talk about things other than AMC?
A. You can discuss anything that is on your mind, you're not limited to talk only about AMC. This Forum is about its Members as much as it is about the show. I have provided a Folder for Personal Comments, if you would like to share your birthday, wedding, baby, etc.
Q. Why can't I flame the stars of All My Children?
A. Personal attacks about the stars of AMC (characters--yes) or any other soap opera or TV program. Remember, they are people with feelings and many of them visit the forums and could terribly hurt by your comments.
Q. Why can't I type in all CAPS?
A. Please follow the general rules of Netiquette; please don't use all CAPS (it's considered yelling), don't use all caps even if you are yelling as that is considered rude and violates rule #1. Please do not use font sizes 1, 6 or 7. One is too small for many members to read and font 6 and 7 are too large and could easily be mistaken as yelling and the bandwidth is brutal.
Q. Why must I keep my signature file to two graphics?
A. Signature files--NEW RULE: Only two graphics in your sig file, please. Put them next to each other if you must, but please be nice and cooperate. If you do not own the clip art or photos in your signature, you MUST remove them. Please keep your clip art/photos small for fast loading and scrolling the messages. It is so easy to get carried away. Keep your signature images small (not everyone has a fast modem). Nothing over 300 pixels please. Rotate your graphics.
Q. How do I report what I think is a violation?
A. If you ever feel or think a poster is out of line or has crossed over the boundaries of this forum, please report it. Just click on the "options" in the bottom left hand corner and send a copy of the offending post.
