In the library, David says they've got to talk Babe down before she goes too far. Krystal pulls out a hidden bug and grinds it on the floor under her shoe as she says J.R. doesn't need to hear this. Krystal asks what if she's right? David insists she's not; this story about her son is her way to cope with her pain and her fear. When he says her baby died that night, Krystal asks, "What if he didn't?" It's possible, and what she says makes sense. David asks if the man staged the crash and stole a baby, how did he orchestrate that storm or the flash flood that trapped them there? She needs their feet planted on terra firma, not joining her in La-La Land! Krystal thinks he's just afraid of getting his hopes up. What if it's real, if their grandchild is alive, "What kind of miracle would that be?"

Babe holds the baby and tells her a fairy tale about a prince and a princess whose mommies were best friends. On the night they were born, an evil troll came and stole the little boy away but he told the mommy the little boy was dead. What they didn't know was that he had hidden the little boy in the woods, stolen him all for himself. She tells her little princess not to worry, because this story has a very happy ending.

Krystal insists they have to check it out-Babe doesn't lie to her! David notes there's a difference between a lie and a delusion, but Krystal says part of being a parent is going with your heart instead of your head. David agrees he's in, but just to get enough proof to convince Babe that baby boy isn't hers.

Babe concludes when the troll was locked away, everybody danced in the streets, and the mommies cried buckets of tears. And finally, the little girl and the little boy met face to face, and everybody lived happily ever after.
