GOTCHA!

Babe tells J.R. they have to talk, "This is me, giving up. You versus me and Jamie? It's over. You win." J.R. loves when she surrenders and he wins, but he needs more details. Babe sighs that she broke up with Jamie. The wedding is off, and she's moving out. So, he gets his wish, "Your brother and I are over." J.R. asks how the old boy is taking it? Babe asks how he thinks he's taking it? Jamie loves her, and would have stuck by her through anything. J.R. gives her props, "Who knew you had it in you to do the right thing, or that you even know what that is?" When Babe says she wants what's best for Jamie, J.R. notes it isn't her, and wonders who ever thought they'd agree on something? Babe says Jamie never meant to hurt her, and neither did she, but right now she could peel him like a grape and walk away whistling. She will not let him hold his brother down! J.R. shrugs that's her job, not his. Babe declares his brother is ten times the man he is! He's decent and caring, and his dreams aren't all about destroying people. So, if walking away helps him, more power to Jamie, because he is so worth it. He can go ahead and start calling all the colleges where he had him blackballed, and the lawyers handling Aunt Phoebe's estate, because she swears on her life that she'll walk away from him forever if he gets a shot at the life he deserves. J.R. regards her thoughtfully before saying she's 100% serious? He doesn't know what to say. She'd give up on Jamie, just walk away, so he could have a future? He made a mistake, "Maybe I should rethink this whole deal."

When J.R. brings her a glass of orange juice, Babe asks if it's doped? J.R. asks what she would say if he stopped this whole grudge match with her and his brother? She doesn't have to walk away, he'll cancel all payback, no strings, "What do you say?" Babe would say he somehow tricked the devil into giving his soul back, but the chances of that are slim to none. They can battle this out until Doomsday, as long as it doesn't mess up their son. J.R. says sometimes all the fights and payback become so empty. Babe wonders if he found religion before or after he tried to nail Jamie for attempted murder? J.R. says he almost lost his mom again, and he freaked out, he made a mistake. Obviously, he owes Jamie a big fat apology. Babe agrees, about a thousand of them, and Jamie's only mistake was helping her, because he's a good man with a fierce heart. She's asking him to leave Jamie alone, just let his brother be happy. J.R. notes the only way he'll be happy is with her as his wife. He nods, "You both get the happily-ever-after; maybe that could be my wedding present to you." Babe asks if he would really do that for them, call all this off, all the hate, no strings? J.R. breaks out laughing, "Gotcha!" This is a sweet memory-she just turned a cruddy night into a happy day! Babe says to laugh it up, play her for a sucker, but it doesn't change the fact that she dumped Jamie. He still has to honor Phoebe's will. J.R. says he doesn't. She blew off her fierce-hearted boyfriend, Jamie, for no apparent reason. He gets no money, he gets no college, he gets no M.D. The stupe's going to be a grease monkey until arthritis forces him to lay down his lug wrench! And that makes her what? Still a loser! Aunt Phoebe's will was very specific, "Jamie has to leave you." Babe doesn't believe it-he's totally playing word games! J.R. says Aunt Phoebs was a sharp old broad-she could see right through her! Babe protests Phoebe never even knew her. J.R. agrees, she knew she'd work the con, pretend to leave Jamie, and as soon as that estate check was cashed, she'd be doing handsprings right back to Jamie's bed. But, Jamie, being the stand-up guy he is, Aunt Phoebe knew if he left her, it would be in ink. She really should get Little Adam to read this to her! In legal-speak, Jamie has to be the dumper, and she has to be the dumpee. Since there's no way to fake it, that leaves her where? Clueless, screwed to the floor! Babe calls him a dirty rotten son of a bitch! She asks what he wants from her, her head on a platter? He agrees, with an apple in her mouth! Babe says he has never played fair, but this is way too much! She is so going to find a way to drive a stake through his heart, shove garlic up his ying-yang, and bury him face down so he's facing his new little buddies in Hell! J.R. says she and Jamie have the stench of failure, lives wasted. Babe thinks if he cared one bit about his brother, he'd be doing right by him. J.R. asks, "And steal your thunder? Babe, selfless, making the ultimate sacrifice for her man." As far as empty gestures go, it's laudable, but completely meaningless. The only way Jamie will cash in on his dream is if he sees her for the tramp she really is and dumps her. Now, if she doesn't mind, he and his son have a Daddy and Me class to attend.
