SHE UNDERSTANDS IT'S OVER…

Dr. Madden tells Greenlee if she succeeded in getting pregnant with Ryan's baby, the pregnancy would not be viable; she would lose that baby also. Greenlee insists she would do whatever he said, and keep herself 100% stress-free. Greg tells her stress is not the problem, "You cannot carry Ryan's baby to term." Greenlee argues she knows plenty of women who have had miscarriages, and gone on to have healthy pregnancies and babies. Greg agrees that's true, but in most cases they don't know what caused the miscarriages. In her case, they do. He was alerted by the blood test; does she remember when he ordered a second test? Greenlee nods, but says it was strictly routine, wasn't it? Dr. Madden explains that in a normal pregnancy, the H.C.G. levels double every two days, and progesterone levels also increase. Her levels were low, a red flag. The test also showed an abnormally high level of antibodies, pointing to immune system response. Half of the cells for the embryo come from the father. Her body read the pregnancy as a foreign invasion. Her immune system rejected the pregnancy, resulting in miscarriage. He has absolutely no doubt that if she gets pregnant again, her body will attack and destroy the embryo. He won't put her through that; it's risky and bound to fail. Greenlee doesn't believe him, saying he's in on this with her father, but Greg insists if he thought this could work for her, that she could carry Ryan's baby to term, he would be right there for her, and monitor her pregnancy every step of the way. But, knowing what they know, to go through with this would be guaranteed heartache. Greenlee wants a second opinion. Greg tells her he called in a consulting; Dr. Avery reviewed her test results, and came to the same regrettable conclusion. Greenlee insists he's wrong, "You have to be." She tells him to get out, and Dr. Madden says he's sorry, and he'll check back with her later. In the hallway, he tells Jack he told her, and she understands it's over.

Alone, Greenlee cries for all she's lost…

NONE OF IT GOOD…

Tad is working at the computer when Aidan comes into the office and complains about the heat, ripe for a crime wave. Does he know most murders are committed when the temperature tops 95°? Tad calls that almost interesting, and tells him to get in here and make himself useful. Can he drop everything he's working on for a while and cover Dixie 24/7? Aidan asks why, what's up? Tad says a lot, and none of it's good.

Dixie looks around warily after writing and folding a note…

Aidan thinks Tad is overreacting, but Tad says all it takes is one bullet to prove her wrong. Does he really want to go there? Aidan asks why he doesn't stay on Dixie then? It would be less conspicuous. Tad says no, he can't, as he'll be traveling to Thailand. He feels like taking a little trip to the Far East, checking out the sights, having a little conversation with Dixie's ex-boyfriend, "Caio, mate."

Dixie goes to the park and uses a pay phone to place a collect call from Di Kirby. When the call goes through, she says, "Yeah, it's me. Just be quiet and listen." She went to prison, kept her mouth clamped tight, and it will stay that way, "But you'd better tell him to stop, or else I'll start blabbing my head off." She's written a letter, and as long as she's alive, it will stay their best kept secret, but if anything happens to her or anyone she cares about, the whole world will know what she knows, "So you tell him that, now."
