Zach wonders if this is a private party, not exactly A-list, and asks Kendall to fill him in. Ethan tells Marty to come on, he’s got somewhere to go. Marty stops to tell Zach he’s sorry, but Ethan leads him from the room. Ryan tells Kendall she doesn’t have to stay, he can handle it from here. Zach says whatever he’s stirred up, he and his fiancée will deal with it, “Won’t we, Kendall?” He tells Ryan to get out, and Kendall agrees he should leave. Ryan says he’ll be downstairs, and leaves them alone. Zach implores Kendall to talk to him, but she says her mother needs her at the party downstairs, it’s a really big night for her. Zach thinks it’s a bigger night for them. Kendall says Ryan had his new pals douse the lights and then brought her in here to show off his little blackout theory, courtesy of their soon-to-be ex-employee Marty. They actually expected her to believe that he had Marty cause those blackouts in September to defrost Ryan's samples in the clinic. Talk about ego, huh? Zach agrees Ryan went to a lot of trouble, and Kendall says he’s completely losing it. He actually wants her to believe that it's his fault she’s carrying her child and not Greenlee's. According to him, everything is Zach’s fault! If Ryan knew him at all, he’d know that he would never do that to her, that he knew how important it was for her to carry Greenlee's baby. He would never play her like that, trash their lives and then hold her hand and ask her to spend the rest of her life with him, “You would never!” Zach tells her, “That’s exactly what I did.” Kendall says something that big, pulling the plug on an entire city… Who could possibly even know that that would work? Zach says he knew; he made sure it worked. Kendall asks, “The fertility clinic, too, perfectly synchronized?” Zach tells her to say it, and she asks what he wants her to say? Because of him, she’s carrying her own child, a child she never even wanted? Because of him, she lied to her best friend and lost her forever? Thanks to him, she is now carrying the child of a man she doesn’t even love, and because of him that man is now in their lives forever! Zach admits he’s responsible for all of it, but they are both thisclose to the future they always wanted. Kendall wonders if he thinks they’ll look back and laugh about this? Is that why he proposed to her, to make up for all of it? Is this ring a symbol of his guilt, or is it just pity? He gives her a nice little wedding, some wedding cake, says he loves her and she’ll forget about the whole thing? Zach says she can hit him or hate him, but never, ever doubt the way he feels about her, “I did what I did because I love you.” Kendall angrily tells him never to say the L-word again! She feels like a punch line in a very sick, demented joke! She doesn’t understand. He zapped the power in the entire city? Zach explains he knew Ryan was alive and he wasn't going to stay away from Greenlee forever. And he knew how determined she and Greenlee were to have this kid, and he knew if he came back, it would hurt her very badly. He felt if he stopped the surrogacy, he could keep her safe. When he did what he did, he thought it was the right thing to do. What he didn't anticipate is what an amazing woman she is; he didn't anticipate that she would fertilize her own egg. He should have known she wouldn’t give up, that she’d do anything for her friend, and now he does. Kendall says from the second he knew she was pregnant, he knew that this baby was hers, but he said nothing, didn’t blink. Why didn't just tell her? He trusts their relationship and love so much he said nothing? Zach admits he knew how she’d feel; telling her wouldn't change anything. “Except how I feel about you,” Kendall tells him. She gave him so many chances to come clean! She told him that she hates secrets and lies, “Ethan lied to me and I stopped loving him.” Zach asks, “Have you stopped loving me?” Kendall says she was sure they were finished when he lied to her about Ryan being dead. Then he went and waved that love wand, and suddenly she was sure he would never, ever lie to her again. She’s an idiot, so stupid to believe that! Zach says he never claimed to be a hero or a saint, and he did tell her he did things he regretted. Kendall thinks there is one thing he didn't lie about, “You said your love would hurt me. You changed my life forever, without my knowledge or consent. Who in the hell are you to do that?” Zach says he’s just like her, “When were you going to tell Greenlee that the baby she was raising as her own was really yours?”
Ryan tells Julia that Kendall sometimes only hears what she wants to hear, and so the only way he could convince her was with a live demonstration. Julia asks if he did this because Kendall’s carrying his child, or is there another reason?
