Erica repeats that Greg Madden can't be trusted with Kendall's pregnancy—he must never put his hands on her daughter again! When she insists that he has to do something, Ryan protests that she may not trust him or even like him, but Kendall is totally comfortable with him, and happy with the level of care that he’s providing. Erica insists there are things Kendall doesn't know, things that she can never find out. Ryan notes there are obviously things he doesn’t know, either. Erica calls them painful facts she needs to spare everyone from, including him. Ryan insists she doesn’t need to spare him from anything, “What is it? What is it that you know about Madden that Kendall and I don't know?” Erica says she loves her daughter and would kill to protect her. She asks Ryan to please trust her, and get Kendall away from that lunatic Madden before it's too late and he's ruined her life. Ryan agrees he’ll talk to her, and do anything humanly possible to protect both Kendall and the baby.
Erica goes to Jack’s room, so glad to see him awake and alert, finally. Jack smiles that it feels much better just seeing her. Erica tells him she’s been here a lot, but he was always sleeping. She’s just needed him so desperately ever since the ball! Jack thinks the ball seems like it was forever ago, “So what's going on, sweetheart?” Erica says she learned something so incredible, so really shocking right before the explosion, and there are just so many things she needs to talk to him about, she doesn’t even know where to begin. Jack says he already knows. Concerned, Erica asks if somebody came in here to talk to him? Jack tells her no, he saw them himself at the ball. He caught Jonathan kissing Lily, and he even had the audacity to come into this room and try to promote himself as boyfriend material! He has to stop Jonathan Lavery from coming anywhere near Lily! Erica assures him she’ll handle Lily and Jonathan. Seeing he’s not up for any more, Erica tells him to rest and she’ll be back later. Leaving the room, she runs into Greg, who’s very happy to hear that Jack is recovering so beautifully. She tells him she doesn’t have time to talk, and excuses herself.
A BUSY, BUSY STUD…
Kendall calls the idea of Julia adopting her child amazing, noting her generosity, openness and ability to overlook the past. Julia thinks if you want a child, the least you can do is act like an adult, and Step One of being an adult is getting over it. Kendall recalls the only time that they ever got along were the years Julia was away. Yet, here she is, offering to take Ryan's and her child out of their hands. Julia agrees she is, and asks if she’s seriously considering her offer? Kendall asks what Ryan said when she told him she wanted to adopt their child? Julia thought she had talked to Ryan about this. Kendall assures her they share everything about their unborn child, and Julia’s relieved to hear that; originally Ryan had said he was going to hold off talking to her about it, but obviously he's changed his mind. Kendall tersely agrees Ryan is a real full-disclosure kind of guy when it comes to the mother of his child. Julia calls that a good thing, and Kendall sarcastically says she’s so glad she approves. Seeing her expression, Julia says she doesn’t sound glad, “What’s wrong?” Kendall tells her she’s hearing stress and months of shocks and setbacks. Julia agrees her life has been one big roller coaster lately. She’s surprised but pleased that she’s even up for talking about adoption right now. Kendall ruefully says she’s learned the hard way that it's best to find out as much as you can as soon as possible. Julia excitedly says she’ll explain everything, why she’s interested, what has led her here, and why she thinks she’d make a good mother to Ryan's baby. “Ryan's baby?” Kendall repeats. Julia corrects, “Yours and Ryan’s,” but Kendall thinks that was an interesting slip of the tongue. When Julia admits it wasn't completely a slip, Kendall asks what was it, then? The last time she checked, she’s the one carrying this baby. Julia explains when she first came to Ryan about the adoption, he was all over the map when it came to fatherhood. He didn't see himself as a single dad, but he had mixed feelings about giving up his son. So, she promised him that he could call the shots when it came to his relationship with his child. Kendall seethes as she asks, unlike Ryan, she wouldn't get to call the shots at all when it came to her own son? Julia says if she’s going to keep her baby, then all this is moot. Obviously there won't be an adoption if she decides to raise her son, so she’ll be calling the most important shot.
