From Karen Watkins, for About.com

Dixie is circling her life like a vulture circling a dying animal. How long before she swoops in, makes her grand entrance, and lets everyone know she’s been keeping her secret? “It ain't going to look good!” When Del reminds her they owe Dixie their loyalty, Di snaps there are people here that she owes, too; she owes it to Tad. She loves him, and would like to keep him in her life, and J.R. and Jamie. They didn’t even find out from her that she was staying—they had to hear it from David! The doorbell rings, and Del guesses it’s Dixie. Di flings open the door as she exclaims, “Well, it is about high damn…” She breaks off at the sight of Tad, who apologizes, saying if she was that hungry, she could have called him and bumped up the time for their dinner date. Seeing her expression, he quips, “So recently engaged, so easily forgotten—this doesn't bode well!” She apologizes, and Tad pulls her out as he says she looks great, and it’s time to go. He turns and tells Del, “I'd ask you to join us, but I don't want to.” Di looks back at her brother as Tad leads her away.

LIVES ARE NOT INTERCHANGEABLE…

Greg thinks of Dixie’s words, that he didn’t have the first clue of what she would be willing to risk. Julia comes in and seems pleased that he’s feeling better. She says she’s feeling better, too. She was devastated when he told her she couldn’t have a child, but now she understands so much more about herself and about him. It must be horrible, having to tell desperate women what they don’t want to hear. It’s heartbreaking, and then going to another doctor… Concerned, Greg asks if she’s seeking a second opinion? He’s relieved when she says her friends want her to, but she figures he knows what he found, and if he can’t read a sonogram, who can? And, she really doesn’t want to face hearing that again. The more she thought about it, the more his approach makes sense—no nonsense, cut through the denial. It's more humane in the long run. Greg calls her a very intelligent young woman, and Julia smiles that since she can’t have a child of her own, she’s still counting on him to help her get one. Greg turns cold when she broaches the idea of adoption, and Julia wonders if he has something against single moms? He says no, not the slightest. He’s helped countless single women conceive, and when they can't conceive, he’s led them towards adoption. Julia questions if it’s her, something personal? She’s definitely picking up some negativity. Greg poses a question, “Do you think it's fair for an adult to use a child as emotional first-aid?” All too often parents hold their children responsible for their happiness, but it really should be the other way around, “Do you think a child could heal your wound?” Somewhat taken aback, Julia says she loved Noah very much and always will, but she’s through grieving. Greg wasn’t referring to that wound, “Didn't you fairly recently… Didn’t you take a man's life?” She had many reasons for pulling that trigger, “You were being held captive, he was threatening your life, but apart from that, he was responsible for your husband's murder.” So, she killed the man. No matter how necessary it might have seemed, she was left feeling guilty, “But lives are not interchangeable, Julia—kill a man, save a child. No matter how noble the impulse, you cannot go out there and cause some cosmic balance. It's not really fair to the child, now, is it?” For years, he’s guided parents who put so much pressure on their children. Can she imagine, little babies who are held responsible for love and happiness, who are expected to make them feel complete and fulfilled? It's a terrible trap to fall into. Julia asks if he thinks she needs to seek psychiatric help? Greg agrees talking helps, and if she ever thinks she wants to go that route, he’d be very happy to recommend someone. Julia thanks him, saying she’ll consider it. She leaves the room, visibly upset.

A CLEAR SHOT…

Dixie tells Zach that Greg Madden cost her her child, her daughter Kate. She was real, she was born, she was there, and then she was gone; Greg Madden did that. She was strongly advised against having another child, but wanted to take the risk because she wanted to have this baby. She didn’t like the doctor that David set her up with, and she heard everyone talking about this incredible fertility guru; she thought the best obstetrician in the world would certainly improve her chances. Zach nods, “Dr. Madden.” Dixie thought if he couldn't carry a high-risk pregnancy to term, then who could? So she trusted him with her life and her unborn Kate's. And then one day, she lost control of her car. Weeks later, she woke up and Greg Madden was standing beside her bed. She thought she was dying, and he told her that she was. She cries as she tells Zach, “I did everything I could to protect my daughter, but I didn’t.”
