Kendall spoke to her son, assuring him Zach would keep him safe. When Zach returned to the room, Kendall heard his voice and felt safe. Zach urged her to fight her way back to him, promising to do whatever he could for her and this baby she loved. Ryan came in and realized how much Zach loved her. Zach told him this baby meant more to her than her own life. Ryan agreed he wanted this baby to come into this world, but couldn’t live with sacrificing Kendall’s life—how could he? Zach said Kendall told him she wanted this child to have a place in the world, with or without her, and he was going to honor that. Dixie came in and assured Zach he was doing what Kendall wanted, but he wondered why there was a voice in his head screaming to save his wife? Dixie knew he loved her and this was killing him, but by respecting her choice, he was honoring Kendall and his love for her.
While looking for Joe, Erica ran into Julia, who said she was praying for Kendall. Erica said she’d never forget that she had fought for her daughter in standing up to Greg for what he had done, but Julia insisted she had done it for all of the women Madden had exploited. Later, Julia and Josh argued about his commitment to his patients, and he insisted they weren’t just notches on his almighty stethoscope.
Tad didn’t want to hear anything Greg had to say, but Madden insisted he could give him answers he so desperately wanted. Tad thought he wanted revenge for uncovering the truth about Josh, but was taken aback when Greg said he had been Dixie’s obstetrician when she was pregnant with his child. He was grateful that Tad hadn’t gone to the media about Josh, and wanted to repay him by telling him the truth about Kate. He told Tad his daughter had been delivered prematurely by C-section, born very much alive, but died of an infection after three weeks. Tad was devastated by the excruciating details of his daughter’s life and death, and further surprised when Greg asked for his help in convincing Dixie that Kate was dead. If Tad couldn’t stop her harassment of him, he’d have to go to the authorities.
Babe pleaded with J.R. to enter rehab, to love her enough to fight for their marriage and for their son. When J.R. insisted he needed more time, Babe asked if he didn’t even get what he had done? Kendall and her baby could die because of him! Jamie arrived as J.R. was leaving, supposedly to go to the office to do some work; he told Babe his brother was planning his next move, and he was sure it wasn’t rehab. He reminded her how she covered for J.R. when she ran Amanda down, and asked how much more damage she was going to let J.R. cause?
J.R. arrived at the hospital and insisted to Ryan that Kendall wasn’t going to die! Josh came up and asked if he was afraid that would lengthen his sentence? As Ryan asked what the hell he was talking about, Derek arrived with Babe and Jamie; Dixie, Erica, Ryan and Zach were stunned when the Chief placed J.R. under arrest for aggravated assault on an unborn child and the attempted murder of Kendall Hart.
