All My Children Daily Recaps

From Karen Watkins

Wednesday, July 5, 2006

Zach doesn’t know, he just got the best one. Kendall declares that only everyone in Hollywood uses her, everyone with tons of money. How did he manage this? Ryan tells Spike he’s going to have to slum it when he comes over to his place, but Zach says he had them put the same stuff in his apartment, “Just thought then Spike can be used to things, you know.” Overwhelmed, Ryan thanks him, and Kendall asks Zach if this is why he rushed off? Is that why he had to leave last night, to do all this? Zach says yeah, “What'd you think?” Kendall notes he doesn’t want to know. She takes a large stuffed bear out of his arms and hugs him, “My honey, thank you. Oh, thank you for being so wonderful and perfect and thinking of everything.” As Ryan looks away, someone knocks on the door. Zach gets up to open it, and Kendall asks what surprise he has planned now? Zach opens the door to find Josh standing there.

When Zach thanks him for the news, Josh asks if it’s news to him? He had no idea his father's coffin was rigged with audio equipment? Zach wonders how he’d know that? He didn't even know he was dead. Josh agrees that’s the surprise. He was supposed to stay alive until he told where Tad and Dixie's daughter was. But his captors had no idea that his coffin would collapse in an earthquake and move to the surface. Ryan asks why he came here? Josh tells him that somewhere in someone's home, there's a matching hookup, a receiver, to equipment in his coffin. “Want to check my place next?” Ryan asks. Josh doesn’t know. Should he? He says his captors also supplied him with bottled water and energy bars, not out of kindness, but to prolong his agony. He tried to claw his way out of that box. His hands were bloody. His nails were broken and destroyed. His fingers were full of splinters! Kendall thinks that’s enough, noting they’re kind of busy here. Josh looks at Spike as he says it’s an amazing thing, Nature, the circle of life, “Begins with birth. My father just met the end with death. Now someone's going to have to deal with the other half of eternity.” He leaves, and Kendall looks at Zach. She calls it grotesque and disgusting. She gets that Greg did some heinous things to Dixie and probably a lot of other people, but she can’t help but feeling a little weird about it. If it weren't for Greg Madden, there wouldn't be a Spike. Ryan and Zach exchange glances before agreeing the world's better off without him. Kendall gets that someone wanted information from Madden, but did they have to bury him alive? Who would do something that extreme? When Ryan says most of the town, Kendall pointedly adds, “At least the ones who are Dixie's friends.”

As Ryan tells Spike that was one hell of a homecoming, Dixie comes to the door. She throws herself into Zach’s arms and asks if he heard about Madden? “It's all gone so wrong!”

DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES…

Tad is in the park, staring at the site where Greg was found, when Di and Del come up and look at him questioningly. Del asks what the hell happened here, but Di is more concerned about whether Tad’s okay. He says he is, and asks if she remembers the tremor they all felt? Well, Madden felt it, too, just before the lid on his coffin collapsed. Del repeats, “Madden was in a coffin?” Tad says yes as he points, right there. The earthquake brought it to the surface. Somebody had buried him alive, “I sat here so many times right next to his grave.” Del asks where he is now, and Tad guesses the morgue. Di gasps Madden’s dead? What about Kate? Tad says they should pray that she's happy, “Because wherever she is, without Madden, she's going to stay there.” Del questions who found him, and Tad asks why? Does he want to buy the book rights? Del wants to know if it was during the quake, or did they find him… Tad asks what it matters? Dead is dead. Di asks if they know who did it to him? If they got to him in time, maybe Madden told them something. Tad says no, he was already gone, “You know what they say, dead men tell no tales. Yo, ho, ho. Actually, I could use a bottle of rum right about now.” Del exclaims that lowlife died without telling them where Kate is! Dixie's going to go ballistic, “This was such a dumb idea. What a disaster!” Di quickly tells him to shut up, but Tad asks what he would know about it? Why is he here? Di says she wasn’t following him. They were cutting through the park on the way to the Serving Spoon for some breakfast and saw the yellow tape. Madden must have pushed somebody too far. Whoever did this, they wanted the truth out of him and thought this was the way to get it. They thought they were helping. But, this doesn't have to be the end, does it? Madden's files still exist, his records. She could cozy up to Hazel at the clinic…. She says Dixie's going to take this so hard. Does she know? She should find her.
