All My Children Daily Recaps

From Karen Watkins, for About.com

Tuesday, October 3, 2006

Zach repeats that he loves her, not Dixie, and Kendall agrees there was a time where she believed that completely, no questions. But how did he get the disc? Why does he refuse to tell her the truth? Zach tells her honestly, “Because I don't want you to know who I really am.” Kendall questions, “How can we have a marriage if you don't want me to see the real you?” When Zach reminds her he told her the day he suggested the alibi that things would get difficult, Kendall asks if she’s not allowed to ask questions? He told her it would get ugly, so she’s not allowed to demand the truth? “Why wouldn't you just take my word? Why not?” Zach exclaims. Kendall cries as she tells him to look at her, “This is me we're talking about here—me!” He knows her, and knows she has a hard time with trust, and now she has lost her trust in him! Zach insists she didn’t lose it, she threw it away…very different. Kendall claims that’s because of all the lies and the secrets. The trial is over, she did her job, played the part as the cheated-on wife. Now, she wants answers. Zach wonders, “How much of this is you and how much of it is your savior, Ryan Lavery?” Kendall moves to slap him, but Zach catches her arm to deflect the blow. When she cries that she needs the truth or they are through, Zach asks why she can’t just accept that there are some things about him that are better left unknown? Kendall repeats she wants everything now. Zach holds Kendall’s face in his hands as he tells her he doesn’t have any happy explanations, “I'm not your white knight. I can go to places so dark, you can’t even begin to imagine. You’re not going to like what I have to say.” Kendall notes it wouldn't be the first time, “But if it's as bad as you're making it sound, it could damn well be the last.” Zach nods, and goes back into the condo.

Zach drinks a beer as he tells Kendall that Madden was gone. He and Dixie searched for him all night, but no luck. He had a feeling he was still in Pine Valley, so he sent his men after him, to listen for him with scanning devices. Maybe they could find his cell phone; then he would know when he was ready to leave. All night, couldn't find anything. Then one of his men struck gold. Found a frequency, but it wasn't a cell phone, it was something else. He listened in, and it turned out Madden had been kidnapped by somebody who needed information about Kate, “So now, I had a pipeline to everything. And I recorded it.” Wide-eyed, Kendall asks if he knew Greg was buried alive? When Zach says yeah, he figured it out, Kendall asks, “And you didn't do anything about it?” Zach concludes that they needed to find information about Kate. Unfortunately, the good doctor died before he could give it up, “Anyway, you asked me how I made a recording. That's it. That's how.” Kendall repeats he knew that was being tortured, and he didn't try to help him, or find him? Dig him up, save him? Told no, she asks why? Zach answers honestly, “Because I didn't care.” Madden stole children from their mothers. He denied fathers the right to raise their son or their daughter, and no one has the right to do that, no one! Kendall realizes, “Including your father. This is about Ethan.” Zach agrees, damn right it is. His father was no better than that lunatic; he robbed his own son from him! He didn't know Ethan existed until it was too late. He took his son from him the same way that Madden took hundreds and hundreds of children from their parents! Kendall demands, “So you just sat back and did nothing while he died?” Zach sighs, “Yeah. And I'm sorry.” Kendall cries as he concludes, “I'm sorry it wasn't me that buried him. I'm sorry it wasn't me that tortured him until he squealed for mercy, begging to tell me where Kate is. And I'm so sorry that it wasn't me that put him in that box and left him there to die.” He reaches for her hand, but Kendall tells him, “Don’t touch me.”

I NEED TO HEAR IT FROM YOU…

As they sit on the roof at Fusion, Babe is sure he has a million questions, but Josh says just one, “What happens next?” The cops told him Zach and Dixie killed Greg, and the D.A. promised him justice. So, he sat through that trial as a final favor to the man who gave him life and raised him, and now it’s all shot to hell. Babe asks if that’s it, they just give up? Josh sighs he’s stuck with this nightmare. He was so ready to move on, put this mess behind him, and now he doesn’t know what he’s going to do. He has no idea what comes next! Babe wishes she had an answer for him. Josh knows she’s not talking about the investigation, “You’re talking about us.” Babe reminds him she’s married and she loves her husband. What happened between them was a one-time deal and they can't take this any further.
