THIS IS JUST NOT WORKING…

Jonathan called to ask about Lily, and Erica told him Jack was bringing her home from the hospital right now. He wondered if she was ready, and Erica admitted she’d made some progress, but really had a long way to go. She was talking a little, but was still so withdrawn. When Lily and Jack arrived at home, Lily was upset when Erica said Jonathan had called. Sean d said if he’d had any clue about that perv, he never would have helped her sneak out of the party, but at least he was dead, “Good job, Jonathan!” Lily told Sean he could be nice, but he made her head hurt. Erica wasn’t happy to learn Sean was staying for the school year. She reminded Jack they agreed they wouldn’t let their children interfere with their lives, and said this was just not working. She needed some time away… He could call it a business trip. Jack wondered if he could ask where she was going?

THE HEART BEHIND THE DARKNESS…

Without giving him details, Kendall told Ryan that Zach had told her more than she wanted to know, and she didn’t know if she could deal with it. She should have just trusted him, stayed in denial—that was the happiest place on Earth! On the upside, Zach didn’t bury Greg alive. On the downside, he may as well have. She didn’t know if she could live with a man who was capable of anything. The problem was, she still loved Zach. She knew the terrible things he could have done and that he only played by his own rules, but before tonight she believed that no matter how bad Zach got, he always had good reasons for doing what he did. “The heart behind the darkness,” Ryan noted. Kendall agreed, exactly. She didn’t know if she could live with that, but she didn’t know if she could live without him. She didn’t know what to do! Ryan said she’d figure it out, in her own time. He left, but returned with a take-out eat-a-thon; he looked forward to Spike getting teeth so he could enjoy it with them.

WORKING THE ANGLES…

Zach repeated they did it. He and Dixie dug a hole, and they buried Madden. If he arrested Tad for perjury, he thought his whole career was going to go up in smoke. Dixie agreed she and Zach would testify that they killed Greg Madden, just like Tad said, so there was no perjury. Tad would walk. Derek called it a major scam from the beginning, working the angles, and wondered how any of them were going to sleep at night? He uncuffed Tad and left, and Zach said he’d sleep like a baby. He told Tad he threw a hell of a victory party, but Tad didn’t feel like celebrating. Dixie thanked Tad for everything before leaving. Back at her room, Zach admitted he made the disc of Madden, but denied putting it in J.R.’s drawer. He agreed he knew who buried Madden, but thought they should leave it alone. Dixie thought it was time she found her own place, but Zach insisted there was no reason for her to leave.

Jamie went to Tad’s and asked if he was all right? Tad nodded it was over, and Dixie was free, but Jamie wanted to know about him. Tad didn’t think it mattered. It was time to move ahead; they just had to figure out how. Jamie agreed, it’s a lot to live with, but they could handle it.

STRANGER THINGS HAVE HAPPENED…

Josh asked Babe if she was ready to give them a chance? They’d tell J.R. together. He’d have to deal, because they were in love and there was no turning back. Babe insisted she was there to focus on her work, and Josh left, wanting to make things easier for her. Amanda thought Babe looked like she’d been through a food processor—what did J.R. do to her now? Babe sighed he let her fall in love with another man. Amanda shared her feelings for Jonathan with her friend, and Babe admitted she was in love with both J.R. and Josh. Amanda wished Babe had a third choice…

I’M GOING TO FIGHT FOR YOU…

Jeff took a room at the Valley Inn to be closer to Josh, who agreed they could spend some time together. Josh asked what he would do if he was in love with a married woman? Jeff mused he’d want to find out more about her husband. Did he make her happy? Did he treat her well, the way she deserved to be treated? “If he’s an ass, doesn’t give her what she deserves, I’d fight like hell for her.” Josh noted that was the first piece of paternal advice, and he pretty much nailed it!

Jeff saw Erica checking in to a room of her own and grinned, “Now, would you get a look at the girl next door?”

Josh returned to ConFusion and told Babe, “I’m going to fight for you.”
