Adam tells him to hold onto that, adding he was right to go to the police station today. Babe comes in and says she thinks so, too. She tells J.R. she owes him an apology. She was so sure that he went to see Zoe to rip on her, but he just wanted to get to know her. Adam repeats, "Her"? "Her/him"? He muses, “Back in the day, people knew what they were.” He excuses himself, and Babe tells J.R. he doesn’t know how much this means to her. He didn't write Zoe off. He listened to her, and he respected her opinion. Calling that huge, she thanks him. J.R. shrugs it’s no big deal, but Babe insists it is. He’s really trying, with this and giving their marriage another chance. She knows that isn’t easy, but if he keeps this up, he’s going to make her the happiest woman in the world. It’s so good to see him out and about, moving around. And call her crazy, but she is feeling a little bit optimistic, all things considered. Dani is alive, he’s better, and their marriage is, too. J.R. says he’s not going to be making any promises about their marriage, “You know, you in Josh Madden's bed… It's like an image I… It's almost impossible to get out of my head.” Babe insists they’re doing it right, one step at a time, nothing but the truth. She just knows they’re going to be fine. She kisses him, and asks him to save one of those for later. She’s going to go check on Dani, call the hospital, see if she woke up. J.R. looks pensive as she leaves the room.

WHY, EXACTLY, DO YOU CARE?

Kendall takes Spike from Annie; she holds him tightly and says his mommy missed him so much—she’s missed him more than chocolate! She tells Annie that not feeling this, her baby in her arms… She thinks it’s possible to die from it. Annie nods and tells her that’s motherhood. She says she thought they could use some alone time, so Rachel took Emma to the Tree House Room; she promised she’d meet them over there before Emma won all the stuffed ponies. She starts to leave, but Kendall asks her to wait. Kendall holds Spike and sighs he looks like he gained ten pounds. Annie tells her one and a half, and Kendall asks if she weighed him? Annie says better. She hands her a small book, “The Life and Times of Spike Lavery”. She kept a journal every day; the last entry was about an hour ago when she fastened him into his car seat, “He’s excited, must know he’s going to see his mommy.” Kendall is touched that she did that for her, and Annie laughs it was a collaboration; she shows Kendall the page with her lipstick and Spike’s fingers. Kendall calls this just what she needed—how did she know? Annie says great moms think alike. Kendall thanks her for taking such great care of him, but Annie thinks Ryan takes most of the credit. She speaks of how good Ryan is with him, and the amount of love he has for that little boy. Kendall wonders if she can ask her a personal question? How does she explain it to Emma, “The whole you and Ryan living together thing?” Annie says they’re not living together. They share an apartment, “Big difference.” Kendall asks, “Is there? I mean, to a child or anyone else that wanders in?” Annie asks if she wants to know if she and Ryan are sleeping together? Kendall quickly says no, she doesn’t. She just wants to know how she explains it to her daughter. Annie tells her that Emma knows she has her room and Ryan has his. And for anyone who wanders in, it’s pretty clear that she and Ryan aren’t sleeping together, “But why, exactly, do you care?” She says she doesn’t care, but it seems she does. Rachel brings Emma back from the game room, and Emma shows off the pterodactyl she won. She turns to Kendall and asks, “Can Spike please be my baby brother?”

IT WAS KENDALL’S FACE…

Zach groans as Ryan and Josh settle him in a chair. Ryan asks if Zach Slater is his real name? Zach tells him he knows damn well it’s not, “And I didn’t bury Greg Madden. I didn’t bleed when he was buried, but I didn’t do it.” Josh is stunned, but Ryan asks who he thinks is targeting the women of Fusion? Zach doesn’t know, but it’s someone who loves his mother very much. Ryan wants him to be more specific, but Zach can’t. Under the influence of the drug, Zach admits he found lots of things related to his past at the storage facility, love letters to his mom, and a note to him from the killer saying she was dead. Ryan asks what else? What scared him? Zach says it was a portrait, a picture of his mother with a white ribbon and a gardenia, but it wasn’t her face, “It was Kendall’s face.”

Ryan asks why he couldn’t just tell him that this maniac painted Kendall into a portrait of his dead mother? He couldn't tell him that? He had to know that Tad would see that! Zach knows, but he didn’t tell him because he would tell Kendall, and it would upset her and it wouldn't get them any closer to the killer. Josh asks what else he isn’t telling them? Zach tries to get up, saying he has to protect her. Ryan insists Kendall’s going to be fine. He wants him to focus. What else did he find in the warehouse that he’s not sharing? Zach thinks back to that day in his childhood, “Let me out! Mommy! I want my mommy! Let me out!” He shakes his head and says he can’t do it, but Ryan asks what he’s remembering? Zach wants out, but Ryan asks what he’s seeing and hearing right now? Zach groans he can’t do this, and Josh thinks he’s shutting down. Ryan urgently says Kendall is in danger, and his son could be in danger, too, “Help me. Help me protect my son. You care about my child. I know you do.” Josh looks at Ryan when Zach agrees, “I care about both of your children.”
