Jeff asks Krystal to please sit down, and she asks why everybody keeps saying that? Jeff tells her they did everything they possibly could to bring her back. They just couldn’t start her heart again. He’s so sorry. Krystal cries no—there’s been a mistake! Jeff shakes his head and says Babe is gone. Krystal turns to Adam and desperately says there’s been a mistake, “Adam, tell him there's been a mistake!” Adam helplessly tells her, “Darling, I can’t.” Krystal turns to J.R., who is standing there in stunned silence. She says he’s on the hospital Board. He’s got to do something—he’s got to fix this! When he doesn’t respond, she says fine, she’ll handle this herself. As she starts for the door Jeff came through, Adam catches her and says no. He shakes his head and kisses her hand, and Krystal falls to the floor sobbing. Adam tries to comfort her, but she pushes him away as she sobs that she doesn’t want anyone but her Babe! Adam asks if they can’t give her something, but Jeff says he’ll have to speak with her doctor first. Tad goes to Krystal’s side as she cries that she needs her baby, and tells her that nobody is going to blame her if she wants to kick and scream and tear this place apart—he will help her do it! He understands what it feels like to have your life ripped open, your heart torn out, to know that what you loved most is gone. He understands—she knows he does. She was there with him—does she remember? He was staring over the edge, looking at the same darkness, and she asked him if he wanted to quit. He said he did, and she wouldn’t let him. She pulled him back, helped him realize that life is going to go on, and now he and Adam and that beautiful baby girl growing inside her are going to help her, because they need her. Adam strokes her hair, and Krystal turns to him, allowing him to comfort her. Tad helps her up, and Adam holds her tightly. J.R. watches the scene and remembers Babe’s words, “You can’t replace one child with another. Do you think that giving him this baby is going to make up for the one that he’s already lost? Do you really want your father to go through what you did, to lose a child and a marriage? And what about Tad and Adam? Adam is going to go after Tad and you know it. Do you really want your two fathers at war while Tad is still grieving?” Julia goes to Krystal and says to come with her; she’ll find her a room. Adam nods, and supports his wife as Julia leads them away. As Amanda sobs, Jeff goes to Josh and suggests they go get some air. Erica thinks that sounds like a good idea, and begs Josh to please say something.
Jamie tells J.R. to say something. Does he want to see Babe? J.R. turns away, and Josh demands, “You don’t even want to see your own wife? You really did want her dead.” Jamie roars, “Leave it alone!” Jeff holds Josh back as Jamie leads J.R. away. When Erica says she and his sisters would like him to come home with them, Josh asks what, so she can hold his hand and tell him how shaken up she is that Babe is gone? Erica tearfully says because they are his family and want to help him through this. Josh exclaims, “Oh, come on, Erica. You can’t wait to pop open the champagne and dance on her grave!” Bianca tearfully urges him not to do this now, but Josh questions how many times Babe came to her asking for forgiveness, begged her to open up that supposedly huge heart of hers, and every time she turned her down? When Kendall starts to say something, Josh says Erica and Bianca can be cold, but she’s the worst. She froze Babe out and stood by Zach—he’s the reason all of this is happening! “Mothers, sisters, daughters—you’re gone!” Don’t try to comfort him. Because of her husband, Babe is dead. To hell with all of them, all the self-righteous hypocrites, “I am done with this whole damn town!” He storms out, and Erica goes after him. Jack goes to Bianca, and holds her as she cries. Ryan comes over to Kendall and tells her that Josh didn’t mean what he said. Kendall cries that she has to find Zach, but Ryan blocks her path and says Dani, Erin, Simone and now Babe. She’s next. This danger is very real, so please let him protect her. When Kendall insists she’s not going to turn her back on her husband, Ryan protests she’s just giving this guy an open target! Kendall cries as she tells him to stop trying to scare her, but Ryan thinks what’s really scary is this guy going anywhere near their son, “So if you want to stand by Zach, give Spike to me.”
Adam looks on as Tad tucks Krystal into the hospital bed and tells her anything she wants or needs…anything. He starts to leave, and Adam thanks him. He got way out of line, came down on him awfully hard after Dixie… Tad tells him to forget it, “Just take care of your wife.” When Adam asks how, Tad says to love her and be with her. That’s all he can do. He leaves, and Adam goes to Krystal, who tells him she needs to see her little girl.
Amanda cries that this is so wrong! Julia touches her shoulder and says her shift is over. Why doesn’t she take her home? Amanda nods, but tells Zoe she was her friend, too. Is she going to be okay? Zoe nods and tells her to go on home. Amanda touches her hand before leaving with Julia. Zoe sinks down into a chair, and Bianca goes to her, covering her hand with her own.
