Jack hugs Kendall and asks how she’s holding up? Kendall sighs she’s anxious to get things back to normal. She says when J.R. showed up here, she freaked out, “I mean, if he discovered our secret in the subbasement, my heart would have stopped.” When Jack says nothing is going to happen to her, Kendall agrees she knows that. With him and Zach protecting her, she’s not worried. Does he blame Zach for everything that’s happened? Jack tells her Zach didn’t create this maniac. Kendall knows, but he feels responsible. Jack repeats it’s not his fault. As a matter of fact, he thinks Zach is doing everything he possibly can to catch this killer before… Kendall wishes everyone felt that way. Jack thinks everyone will, that people just need some time and some distance from all this pain. He smiles as he asks, “You know I love you, right? And no matter what happens between your mother and me, you'll always be my daughter. That's a marriage vow that will stand forever. Okay?” Kendall agrees, it’s more than okay.

IF YOU WANT ME TO PUT OUT SOME FEELERS…

When Tad arrives, Erica pulls him in the door and says to get in here right now! Jeff greets Tad, and asks Erica what’s going on? Erica tells Tad they have no idea where their son is, “You have got to find Josh!” She tells Jeff their son is bereft, devastated by Babe's death, and he needs them. Jeff says no, he needs some time alone. When Josh wants to get back in touch with them, he will. “If he's able,” Erica argues, but Jeff sighs that Josh isn’t going to do anything rash. Erica wonders if he says that because he's always shown such good judgment before? Tad protests that he’s busy, reminding her there's a serial killer on the loose out there. Erica asks if he doesn’t think she knows that? Her daughter is out there with a target on her back! They’re doing everything they can to protect her. When Jeff says no one knows more about that than Tad, Erica looks at Tad and pointedly adds, “And no one knows more about losing a child.” Tad sighs that this guy usually aims at women. Does she really think for one minute that Josh is in danger? Jeff doesn’t, and Erica exclaims, “Oh, men!” With all due respect, they weren’t there with Josh. She was there, and she saw him. He is not just in mourning, he's lost his reason for living. His love for Babe was beyond all kind of understanding. Jeff insists he’s lying low, that's all. Erica protests that first he finds out that the man who raised him was a madman. He thinks she didn't want him to be born. She and Jeff are still on probation as far as Josh is concerned. His love for Babe was everything to him. It was the only thing that was holding him together. Tad asks, “So, now that Babe is dead, you're rooting for her?” Erica says no, just that Josh had pinned all his hopes on her, and that was the worst thing he possibly could have done. Babe was married, and to a Chandler. What she’s saying is that they have to act now, before Josh does something completely irrational and desperate that he can't undo.

Jeff reminds Erica that Tad is grieving, too. Erica says of course, poor Dixie. She tells Tad he knows how sorry she is, and his loss is even more tragic given his situation with Kate. Jeff sighs and tells Erica to say good night to Tad. Erica takes a step closer to Tad as she says she knows what a fine detective he is, and she knows he understands how much this means to her. Tad appreciates that, but the fact is, even if he did find Josh, he’s not going to come back with him. Erica insists that’s all right, he doesn’t have to. She would just like to speak to him, to know that he’s all right. She wants him to know that they love him. When Jeff repeats that Josh needs some time to himself, she protests that they could lose him. He’s so angry, the world, and at God. Jeff agrees, so he went out and took a walk. Erica insists he could keep on walking right out of their lives. Is that what he wants? Jeff excuses himself when he gets a call from Josh, who says they have a situation, “I need your help.” Jeff says he’s at the Valley Inn now, and he’s on his way. When he says he has to go to the hospital, Erica exclaims, “Jeff, we're talking about our son's life here!” Jeff tells her he has a feeling about this. Josh is fine. Trust him. When he wants to get in touch with them, he will. He kisses her cheek, says goodbye to Tad, and leaves.

Erica sighs she didn't mean to be inconsiderate or thoughtless, “If I weren't so concerned about Josh…” Tad knows, and says the truth is that he wants to keep busy. He has to. Erica agrees it can help keep your mind off things, and adds if there’s anything she can do to help him, please let her know. Tad thanks her, and she sighs, “If only I could bring Dixie back to you.” Tad agrees, if only. Erica asks if he doesn’t think that Jeff was strange? Tad shrugs, “In what way? He's always been a little unique.” Erica laughs, but she’s serious. She’d think Jeff would be just as anxious for him to find Josh as she is. She knows he cares, but he wants her to just ignore the situation? Tad points out that he didn't exactly say that. Erica exclaims it’s just so male! She doesn’t want to do the wrong thing. Her relationship with Josh is still so new, so please tell her what he really thinks. Does he think Jeff was right, that if she just gives Josh some time and some space, that he will get over Babe's death and he will come back? Tad says if he’s any judge, Josh is probably very raw right now. He’s going to have to do some healing before he’s fit to be around other people. Erica protests she’s not “other people”. Tad agrees, and he knows that. He knows how much she cares about him. Maybe he's just trying to spare her some grief. Erica protests she doesn’t want to be spared. If her son needs silence and rest, she wants him to have it, but she just wants to know that he's all right. Tad reminds her that Josh is a highly intelligent adult; he doesn’t think she has to worry about him. Erica admits she’s worried about herself. She knows that’s very selfish, but what if Josh has written her off and never wants to see her again? Tad asks why he would do that?
