IF ANYONE STANDS A CHANCE… After Ryan’s shocking proposal, Annie asks what happened in Vegas? Is he all right? Did he get hurt? Ryan laughs that he’s fine. He’s fine, he’s home, and he knows what he wants, “Annie, will you be my wife? Will you take me as your husband? Will you wear my ring, will you take my name? Will you marry me?” He was on the plane back and it hit him. He wasn't coming back to Pine Valley, he was coming back to her. The face that he saw when he thought of home was her face. And when she opened the door just now and he saw her face, it sealed it. The only future he wants is one with her and with Emma. He’s just hoping that she’ll say yes and that she wants that, too. Jonathan comes out and hugs Ryan, saying it’s about time. Come on, what are they waiting for? The party’s started! Ryan picks Annie up in his arms and tells his brother to cover for them before whisking her away.

When Ryan finally stops the car, Annie exclaims they are in the middle of nowhere! Ryan agrees they are, just the two of them in the middle of the stars, “You want to make out?” He moves to kiss her, and Annie calls him impossible! Ryan asks what she means? He just proposed to her, now she kisses him. Annie reminds him that the two of them getting involved isn’t a good idea, but Ryan calls that a bad decision. They have something, so instead of trying to manage it and control it, they should just see where it goes, because he bets that it goes somewhere pretty incredible. Annie asks what if they fizzle? They already agreed on this. They didn’t want to get tangled up in something that could go sideways. As great as he is, Emma comes first. Ryan grins boyishly as he agrees she does, always, “But you think I'm great?” He tells her Emma's not going to get hurt, because they’re not going to break up. They’re not, because he’s going to build them a life and a family for the rest of their lives. He proposed to her because he wants to be straight with her; he wants her to know where his head’s at. As far as the timing and all that kind of stuff, that’s her call. Annie reminds him that when he left town, they were good. They totally agreed to be just friends, and now he comes back talking about marriage out of the blue? Something happened in Vegas. What, is it about Kendall? Ryan agrees, yes, what happened with Kendall does have a lot to do with this. Alex Cambias almost killed Kendall. He killed his sister. He killed Dixie before she found her daughter, and they were all so young. And, yes, when he saw Kendall safe and alive, he wanted what she had, a second chance at life. “Complete with instant family,” Annie notes. Ryan tells her you can plan and you can try to control it, but in the end, life can just be taken right out from underneath you. He doesn’t want to exist just until he doesn’t. He doesn’t want to waste time. He wants to make it happen, to live the life he wants right now. He doesn’t want regrets, he wants memories, and he wants them with her and with Emma. Annie knows he loves Emma and wants to give her everything and make sure that she's taken care of, but… Ryan agrees he loves her daughter very much, but this isn’t only about Emma. It’s about the two of them, and he really wants to be with her. He smiles as he says to tell him it won’t work, that it’s impossible, that she wants him to get out of the car and get out of here. Tell him that he doesn’t have a chance. Annie tells him, “Well, if anyone stands a chance, it's you.” Ryan pulls her to him and kisses her.

ON THE WAY TO SAVING HIS…

When Kendall comes back inside, Bianca asks if she found Zach? Kendall says he’s gone, and Erica exclaims she could have been killed! Why would he just drop her at the door and vanish? Why would he just walk away? Kendall tells her she’s fine, “Zach saved my life. I owe him forever.” Erica won’t let it go—what kind of man nearly gets his wife killed and then just runs off and leaves her first chance he gets? Bianca urges her not to do this now. Kendall just got home—don’t put this on her! Erica is just saying that Ryan would never do this. If Kendall were with Ryan, he'd be right in there helping her to put her little boy to bed, his little boy to bed, and he would never pull a Zach. He would never just run off to God knows where to do God knows what! She just doesn’t understand why Zach would need to walk away from her at a time like this. Kendall tells her that Zach needs to do this, “He has to get the blood off his hands.” Zach is wrecked by what his father did. That sick old man took so many lives, and Zach needs to deal with everything that’s happened—his father, his past and the murders. He needs to understand that he's not to blame for this, so if he needs a little time alone, she thinks he's entitled to it. Bianca tells Kendall she’s just glad she’s safe, that she’s home and she’s all right. Erica declares if that killer had hurt one little hair on her head, she would have hunted him down herself. Kendall admits there were moments when she thought Alexander would win, and she was terrified. But then she thought of them, her mom and Binks, and their legacy, and she thought about what Erica had said. When she told her she wished she could keep Spike in a little cocoon, all wrapped up so that she could keep him safe forever, Erica told her it wasn’t possible. She told her to teach her child to face danger, to get knocked down, but then get back up again and fight. So she fought, like her mom and Bianca fought, and that’s what got her through. That's how she survived. Erica wordlessly hugs both of her daughters.
