TELL ME YOU WANT THIS…

Kendall smiles as she tells Zach, “I’m pregnant. We made a baby.” When Zach remains silent, she kneels beside him and says she knows this is huge. This is not exactly how she wanted to tell him, but he was listing all the reasons to take over Cambias, and she didn’t want him to leave this little guy off, or little girl. She knows it’s a lot to wrap his head around right now. All their focus has been on killing and murders and death, and after all this loss, how can his brain even begin to compute a new life? But that’s why this happened now. Their baby is a perfect reason to move ahead and change their focus. It’s okay to want this, okay to be happy. “How do I do this?” Zach asks. Kendall tells him this baby will mark a whole new chapter in their lives. Think about it! When he sees that perfect, beautiful little face, that combination of the two of them? She knows him. She knows he will think about the future and their family, “You and me and Spike and Baby X.” Zach sighs as he says he knows she wants him to pick her up and throw her around and be excited about this, but he’s got to tell her… Kendall insists she doesn’t need that from him. She knows he wants this, because his biggest regret was not raising Ethan. She’s just waiting for him to see it. Zach reminds her that he didn’t raise Ethan because of his father. Kendall knows, but he was a teenager when he was born. He didn’t even know he existed. This is so different! His father cannot keep him from this child. He’d be going into this with both eyes open. Zach sighs that he lost Ethan, he lost his mom, and he almost lost her… Kendall says he didn’t. She’s right here, she’s still here, and she’s carrying their child. They’ve been given a reason to believe in the future. This is going to happen and it will be so right, and no one will ever come between them and their child. Just tell her that he believes it, “Tell me that you want this.” Say he wants this—they can do it! Zach smiles for the first time and says he wants this. He kisses her and repeats it, he wants this. Kendall lets out a whoop of joy and exclaims they made a baby! Zach wonders if it’s a Valentine’s baby, a little Cupid baby? Kendall doesn’t know, she hasn’t exactly calculated it, but in her heart, that’s when it happened. Zach grins it’s got a beautiful mom and a cool little brother. “Sexy dad,” Kendall adds. Zach can’t wait to hold him, or her, or them… Kendall repeats, “Them?” No, don’t go there, please! Zach says he loves her, he loves Spike, and he loves, what is it, “Baby X”? Kendall nods, and he tells her now he knows he can’t take Cambias. Kendall thinks their baby is exactly the reason he should take Cambias. So the company has his father’s name—so what? Ryan and Bianca took the company and made it into something amazing, and he’ll make it even better. He deserves this—he deserves a chance! Zach asks deserves what? He can do his own thing. He doesn’t need his dad or his money. Kendall agrees, but in the meantime, Alexander will ruin all the hard work that Ryan and Bianca put into the company. And then he’ll establish the Michael Cambias Foundation for defending violent criminals? No, he doesn’t want that! Zach tells her what he wants is for his children not to be connected with that man or his name. They’re going to have a new start with their child, and that’s what he wants, a new start that’s not linked to his father. Is that too much to ask? When Kendall says Cambias hasn’t had Alexander’s imprint on it in years, Zach argues that he’s behind it, and that won’t go away. Kendall suggests he think about what will go away if he doesn’t do this. All the hundreds of jobs, maybe even the Miranda Center? Zach nods, Fusion; he knows she wants that. Kendall insists this isn’t about her. She wants him to have this because he should, because he can make it his own and he can make it amazing. Cambias is the only thing his father ever really loved. So, take it from him and change it, make it so he doesn’t even recognize it. This is the way for him to get even with him, the way for him to come out on top. He wants to tell his dad to shove it? Then say yes, run Cambias, take it away from him. Zach protests that his father is still calling the shots. He’s boxed him in, making him do things he doesn’t want to do. Kendall knows that no one makes him do anything. He controls whether he says yes or no, and if he does say yes, that doesn’t mean he’s caving in. Zach wants his children to respect him, and he wants to be okay with the choices he makes. Kendall smiles that his children are going to worship and adore him no matter where he works or what he does. She knows he was born under the Cambias name, but he’s not his father and never will be. This baby is going to be all Slater, with a little Kane thrown in—passionate, smart, fantastically beautiful, funny, and in total awe of his or her dad. Zach says he needs some time. Kendall nods, and he kisses her.

WHAT ABOUT LOVE?

“You make me crazy,” Ryan repeats. He tries it again with an Italian accent, and explains he’s trying to give it the perfect delivery. “Nothing? I don’t even know if we’re engaged yet.” When Annie says no, he wonders if that’s “no”, maybe, or “no”, never? She laughs that he’s impossible, but Ryan prefers to call it persistent. Annie tells him he hasn’t said anything about love, “What about love?” Ryan claims he didn’t want her to feel any pressure. He thought that his marriage proposal was spontaneous enough. He didn’t want her to be forced into telling him she loved him when she doesn’t. Annie agrees she doesn’t. Ryan says he’s okay with that, for a lot of reasons. One, they have fun together—the tack room at the stables is evidence of that! They work well together, and they make each other laugh. Has she seen his social calendar recently? If you remove the “woo Annies”, he’s left with just play dates with Emma and Spike. As far as roommates go, they’re perfect. They like the same TV shows, they don’t argue over whose turn it is to do the dishes, or about who makes the better cup of joe. He’ll give her a hint, “It’s not you.” They fit—she knows they do!
