As they sat in the car, Tad protested, “But you were shot. You died, 20 years ago in this hospital.” Unless he was losing his mind, Jesse definitely wasn’t dead! Jesse said he came back for Frankie, to tell his boy that he loved him, and he wasn’t expecting Angie to be there. Tad noted he obviously had some explaining to do but right now, they were going to walk into that hospital and tell Angela he was very much alive. Jesse insisted no one could know—especially Angela! There was a reason he’d been gone all these years. Whatever was chasing him, whoever was chasing him, he would take care of it. Jesse insisted he couldn’t! The only thing he needed to know was that he’d jeopardize the safety of his family if anybody knew that he was back. When he said Tad wouldn’t understand, Tad said the hell he wouldn’t! He told Jesse how it was too late by the time he remembered that Dixie was the only thing that mattered to him in this life.
HE HAS FINALLY COME HOME…
Angie joyfully told Frankie he was going to be okay. Outside the room, she sighed with relief, “Oh, Jesse. He made it. Frankie made it, Jesse. He has finally come home.”
THE WOMAN THAT I LOVE…
Kendall told Ryan she was so sorry. She had no idea how things were for him. Zach added that they’d help with whatever they need. Asked if she was happy, Kendall said yes, very happy, “And so were you, with Annie.” Ryan couldn’t imagine how hard this was for Annie, and he was truly sorry. He turned to Zach and told him, “Everybody says that you and I are friends, you know? But I got to be honest with you. I mean, whenever I look at Kendall, all I see is the woman that I love.”
Greenlee asked about Frankie's dad, and Angie said his father, her husband, died in this very hospital. It was a very long time ago, “His name was Jesse, and he was the love of my life.” Greenlee shared that she saw her first husband die, too; Angie agreed they had to go on living their lives, but she always felt Jesse’s presence watching over their son, like he was his very own guardian angel. Greenlee guessed that made him hers, too, “Thank Jesse for me.”
NOTHING THAT COULD KEEP KENDALL AWAY…
At ConFusion, Amanda prepared for the launch party but worried that Kendall wouldn’t show up. When the pushy Hyperion rep insisted that she wanted Kendall there, Amanda agreed this was huge, and she was going to call Kendall again. She didn’t sound convincing as she said she was sure, with Greenlee on the mend, there was nothing that could keep Kendall away.
A LITTLE LOST RIGHT NOW…
When Aidan asked what was going on with Ryan, Zach sighed, “Ryan is a little lost right now.” He didn’t remember anything from the past four years, and still thought he was engaged to Kendall. Aidan asked what he was going to do? Zach replied, “I'll do whatever it takes to help him remember and make sure he stays away from my wife until he does.”
Joe explained that the tests confirm absolutely there was no physical trauma to Ryan’s brain. They had been able to rule out certain kinds of amnesia; that left dissociative amnesia, and that was characterized by the patient blocking out an intensely personal period of time. Ryan asked if he was saying he was doing this on purpose? Joe told him he wasn’t a psychiatrist, but he did think he should talk to one. He admitted he’d never encountered a case like this in all his years of practice. Annie assured Ryan they’d get through this together, but he just wanted some time alone to figure it all out.
TAKE IT FROM SOMEONE WHO WAS THERE…
Kendall got a call from Amanda; when Greenlee learned the book party was today, she insisted Kendall go. Greenlee told Zach something was going on that no one was telling her about, and she was counting on him, her new good buddy, to tell her the truth. Zach told her that Ryan had lost four years; the last thing he remembered was being engaged to Kendall. Greenlee called this huge—there was so much history there! When Zach said he knew all about the history, Greenlee insisted, “Oh, no, you know it, I lived it. Take it from someone who was there—when it comes to Ryan and Kendall and what went on four years ago, the feelings run deeper than you can imagine.”
Aidan told Annie that he’d known Ryan a long time, “And I've never seen him happier than he is with you.”
JUST AN OLD FRIEND… Angie dozed off while sitting with Frankie; she had a dream about the life and the love she and Jesse shared. Scenes went through her head, ending with his death, and she woke up with a start as she cried out, “Jesse, no!” Frankie urged her go to a hotel, get some real rest, but was only able to convince her to go out for some fresh air.
Jesse told Tad if there was any way in the world he could be with Angie and Frankie, he would make it happen, but for the sake of his family, he implored him to keep this to himself . Tad got out of the car, and Jesse started the engine. Angie came into the parking garage and called out, “Tad? Tad, is that you?” Jesse slid down in the driver’s seat and pulled his cap down lower on his face. Tad leans in and begs, “Jesse, please, don't do this to her.” Jesse says he’s sorry he got him into this. Telling Tad to take care of her, he pulls away. Angie walks over to Tad and asks who that was? “Just an old friend,” he tells her. Jesse looks in his rear view mirror and sighs as he shakes his head.
I NEED YOU TO BE WITH ME…
As Kendall met the press and signed autographs, Ryan came to the club looking for her but left without seeing her. When Amanda said he had been there and was acting kind of strange and had headed for the roof, Kendall went up after him.
Kendall found Ryan sitting on the ledge of the roof and said she needed him to get down from there. Amused, Ryan said he wasn’t going to jump. He was just sitting here thinking. This was the place that they reconnected. He held out his hand as he told her, “I need you to be with me.”
