NOT EVEN DEATH…

Angie looked at a calendar with today’s date, February 8, 2008. She flashed back to years ago when Jesse had been shot, bending over him and saying all the years they’d loved each other, the things that they’d shared…nothing would ever take their love away, not even death. When Joe urged her to accept a full-time position, she said there was no way she could stay in Pine Valley now. As they walked away, Jesse was rushed into the ER. He came to and asked where he was? Told Pine Valley Hospital, he got up and declared he couldn’t be there before collapsing on the floor. He got up, insisting only his pride was hurt. Hearing the resident say he wanted Dr. Martin paged, Jesse said no!

When Angie came into his room, Frankie told his mom he remembered and it was okay to talk about it, “Today is Dad’s birthday.” He still thought of him all the time, especially the last Christmas that they had together, and now his last memory of him was here, in this hospital. Angie sighed that sometimes she wished she could look into his eyes just one more time. She took her son for a wheelchair ride, and Jesse hid when he heard her voice.

SOME PEOPLE IN YOUR LIFE YOU CAN ALWAYS COUNT ON…

Annie told Zach that Ryan had walked out on her; she didn’t know where he was or if he was safe—what if he did something? Zach reminded her that he lost his memory, not his mind. Annie said she just had to make sure he knew that she loved him and wasn’t going to give up on him, ever. Zach wanted her to let him help her through this. Ryan would be fine, “You got so much love for him, how can he not love you?” Annie hopefully asked if he really thought so? Zach did, and told her to look at Kendall. She thought he was dead, but she didn’t give up, “Some people in your life you can always count on.”

LIKE PLAYING MUSICAL CHAIRS…

When Ryan said he really needed to learn about all the life he just couldn’t remember, Greenlee asked if he was sure? “Because you might not like what you hear.” She told him about their own marriage, and Ryan apologized for everything that he put her through. If he could go back and change things, take away all the pain, he would make sure that he never hurt her again. He called this so weird, like they’d been playing musical chairs and everybody was sitting in the wrong seats. Greenlee knew that’s how it must seem to him right now, but it wasn’t how it really was. She and Aidan loved each other, and Kendall and Zach were happy, so good together. Ryan wasn’t pleased to hear that Zach had been there for all the ladies in his life. Greenlee told him not to make it sound bad. “Just an observation,” he replied.

THERE ARE GOOD LIES…

Upset that Aidan was on the plane with her, also going to Chicago, Kendall worried what it might look like, the two of them there together. If Greenlee ever found out what they did, she would die. Aidan insisted he was secure in his love for Greenlee, “Spending one night with you is not going to change that.” Kendall said what they did was tearing her up inside and she couldn’t live with the lie. Aidan said if she told Zach what happened, she’d be repeating history. It was classic Kendall Hart behavior, selfish and reckless. She’d be telling him to relieve her own guilt, “The only person that's going to feel better is you, all right, so get over yourself and think about Greenlee. If she found out what happened between us, it would crush her and I'm going to be damned if I let you hurt the woman that I love.” He insisted there were good lies, and this was one of them. Kendall suddenly became ill, and rushed to the rest room.

YOU LOOK SO FAMILIAR… Jesse ducked into a supply closet and breathed a sigh of relief until Julia came in and threatened to call Security. After telling her he’d lost his family at this hospital and just needed a quiet moment, he said he’d better be going. Julia thought he looked so familiar, “What did you say your name was?” Jesse brushed past her as he thanked her so much for her kindness, but he really had to go.

NEVER AGAIN…

Greenlee told Ryan how much he loved Annie, but he protested that she wasn’t Kendall. Greenlee told him to snap out of it—stop obsessing over a past he couldn’t remember or change, and give Annie a chance! He thanked her for the talk and had one last question. Did the three of them ever, all three of them, kind of like… Greenlee called him a pig, and he laughed, “Hey, a guy can dream, right?” Greenlee told him she and Kendall had gone after each other's men one too many times—that was never going to happen again. Ryan left, and Greenlee reached for the phone.

LET ME KNOW…

As Zach hugged her and said if she needed anything to let him know, Ryan came to the door and watched through the glass window.

WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH AIDAN?

Kendall returned to her seat and told Aidan she got nauseous—hadn’t he ever seen someone get sick? She was sure it was just stress from all the lying, “What else could make me this sick?” When Aidan went to get her some ginger ale and crackers, Kendall answered his phone when it rang. Hearing Greenlee’s voice, she asked if everything was okay? Greenlee didn’t know, “You tell me. What are you doing with Aidan?”

I NEVER STOPPED LOVING YOU…

When Angie sighed that this day, being there in the hospital, made her miss Jesse more, Joe thought it might help to visit Jesse’s grave. When Angie told him she hadn’t done that in years, Joe thought maybe it was time.

At the cemetery, Jesse visited his own grave, holding back tears as he ran his fingers over the engraved lettering on the headstone, “Beloved Husband and Father”.

Angie put her coat on, stopping for a moment to look at Jesse’s picture in her locket. Julia came up and wondered if she was off to the Valley Inn? Angie smiled as she said no, actually, she was on her way to see someone very special. She left the hospital and sighed, “Joe’s right—it is time, Jesse.”

Jesse sighed, “You need to know I never stopped loving you, Angela.”
