EXACTLY WHAT JESSE WOULD DO…

Krystal is downstairs with Jenny and Little Adam when Tad asks if she knows what he did with the files he was looking at last night? Krystal asks if he means the files on Jesse’s case? They’re upstairs. Tad says he already looked there. Krystal tells him she thought Jesse told him to leave it alone, so what is he going to do? Tad says he’s going to find out exactly what happened, because that's exactly what Jesse would do, even if he told him not to. Krystal just thinks it's so amazing. After all these years, he finally comes back and then he leaves again without even seeing Angie. It just makes her so sad when she thinks about it. As Tad agrees, “Yeah, you and me both,” the doorbell rings. Tad opens the door to Frankie, who tells him that his mom never made it to New York. She didn't get on the plane. Is she here? Krystal says no, she left yesterday, “I took her to the airport myself.” Frankie asks then what happened to her? Where is she? He had the airline page her as soon as the flight landed, and nobody answered. Her cell phone's been off for hours. She's a doctor—she never cuts off her cell phone. Krystal is sure there’s an explanation, but Frankie says no, he’s calling the cops. He reaches for his cell phone, but Tad tells him that's not a good idea just yet. Frankie asks why? His mom is missing! Krystal says her flight was delayed, so maybe she just took a later flight. Or after everything she's been through these past few weeks, maybe she just needed some time for herself. Frankie insists she would have told him that, and Tad says he needs to calm down. Frankie snaps that he needs to stop telling him what to do! He apologizes, saying it’s just that something's not right. He can feel it. Tad says to do him a favor, just let him make a couple of calls first, do some scratching around and see what he can find out. Krystal agrees he’s right, and tells Frankie there’s some leftover meatloaf in the kitchen. Why doesn’t he just go in there and make himself a sandwich and relax while they start making some phone calls. Frankie leaves the room, and Krystal asks if he’s thinking what she’s thinking? “You hope he doesn't finish the meatloaf?” Tad guesses. Krystal says she told Angie to take the train. Maybe Angie and Jesse got together. Tad nods, “Or maybe whoever the bad guys are, they found her first.”

Tad tells Krystal he just spoke to his father. He checked in with the hospital Angie works at in New York. Nothing. Krystal reminds him that he knows her theory. Tad knows, and would like to believe in her theory, but unfortunately, they have other options to consider. Krystal suggests they just say she’s right, Angie and Jesse found each other and they're still in Pine Valley. Where would they be? Tad doesn’t know, but if she is right, and they're alone, there was one place they used to hang out together. It’s a cabin, more of a shack, actually. It's in the middle of the woods, and he’ll be damned if he knows where. Frankie comes back and offers, “Maybe I could help you.” He couldn’t find her? Tad says not yet, but he’s going to keep at it. Frankie says he appreciates that, but in the meantime, he thinks he’ll go to the police station and file a report. Tad protests it might be too early to file a report, but Krystal tells Frankie to do what he has to do, and just keep them posted. She’s sure his mother's going to turn up. Frankie hopes she’s right. He thanks her for the sandwich and leaves. Tad tells Krystal she’s very smart, but she asks what if she’s wrong and he’s right? What if something, God forbid, did happen to Angie? Tad goes to the bookcase, and she asks what he’s looking for? Tad says a map. The town’s changed a lot in 20 years, but maybe if he can find a map that's old enough, he might be able to find it that way. Krystal asks if he thinks she’s still here? Tad doesn’t know, but if she is, it's possible that she would go to someplace that would mean something to her. He finds a map and exclaims he’s got it!

I’VE BEEN RUNNING FOR 20 YEARS…

As they lie in each other’s arms, Angie asks if he remembers that tree they planted? They were going to make a swing out of its branches. Jesse remembers; he remembers they were going to do a lot of things. He sighs that he’s so sorry. All those years… Angie holds him tightly and says it’s okay, they’re here now, and they found each other again. Jesse agrees, but they’re not safe. He’s risking her life being here with her. Angie sighs that he keeps saying that, and Jesse says because it’s the truth. She pleads, “Then tell me why, Jesse. Please. You owe me that much. You were gone for 20 years. I need to know what happened.” When Jesse says he wouldn’t know where to start, she tells him from the beginning, when he was shot, “I want you to tell me everything.” Jesse pulls away and says she doesn’t want to hear all this. Angie insists she does. He needs to tell her what happened. Jesse says he remembers getting shot, and her at the hospital crying. He remembers all of that, and then he blacked out; he doesn’t even know for how long. Angie protests that she was at that hospital when they took his dead body away! Jesse says they told him it was all a setup, that they needed it to look like he was dead. Angie asks who told him this? Jesse says that’s just it, he doesn’t know. When he came to, he was in this dark room. He doesn’t know how long he was there—days, weeks—who knows? But when they came in, they told him everything that happened, and said that if he told them what they needed to know, they would let him go, but he didn't believe them. Angie asks what these people wanted? Jesse tells her they never said. They acted as if he was holding out on them, that he knew something important and wasn't giving it up. That's when they… Angie holds him and cries, “Oh, god. Oh, god, Jesse.”
