TELL ME ABOUT HIM, WILL YOU?

When Opal comes into the restaurant, Robert stands and says he’s so glad she could join him. Opal tells him sometimes he looks so much like his brother, it just makes her skin crawl. Robert’s sorry about that. Will she join him? Opal sits down, and he tells her he ordered some drinks. Opal says no, she needs to keep her wits about her. She exclaims, “Whoo! I just never thought I would cross paths with the Gardner clan again. Robert protests that he thought he had convinced her he was nothing like Ray. Opal heard everything he had to say, and she sees he’s making every effort, but Ray Gardner is a lot harder to get past than she realized. He ruined a lot of people’s lives. She has been having the worst nightmares ever since he came to town. A waiter comes to the table as Robert tells Opal he’s so sorry. He says he took the liberty of ordering some champagne—shall he send it back? Opal looks at the label and sees it’s the good stuff—isn’t that fancy! Well, she guesses a little wouldn’t hurt. Robert calls that good, and says he knows it’s been a long time since she left Ray and came to Pine Valley alone. Opal tells him she didn’t come alone, she came with her daughter, Jenny. Tad was already settled here in Pine Valley with Joe and Ruthie. Robert notes that Tad certainly seems to have made something of himself. Opal calls it success with a capital “S”! He turned everything around. He has a real good life, her Tad. Robert raises his glass for a toast, and asks, “Tell me about him, will you?”

YOU’VE GOT A GOOD LIFE, TOO…

As they look around an abandoned warehouse, Tad asks if they’re even in the right ballpark? When Jesse says he doesn’t know, Tad tells him this is the sixth warehouse they’ve been to—does anything look familiar? Jesse says it’s been 20 years. Things change, and it’s not exactly the kind of place he wanted to remember, either. Tad calls that a point well taken, adding that at least they can still see the clock tower. Jesse thinks he should go—this is just wrong! He didn’t sign on for this. If he got hurt… Tad tells him to knock it off, but Jesse urges him to turn around and walk away. He’s got a good life, a wife and a kid—why would he want to jeopardize that? “Because you’ve got a good life, too,” Tad replies, “And you can’t get to it until we figure out what happened to you.” He says Jenny was right—why does he always have to have such a thick skill? Jesse tells him this think skull’s kept him alive. As they look around, a shadow appears at the door.

The door creaks as Jesse and Tad go into another warehouse; Tad comments that after nine or ten, these places all look the same. He shines a flashlight on a sign and reads, “Crane West Imports”. Jesse turns on the overhead lights, and Tad asks for the bag he’s carrying; he wants to take another look at that date book. He shows Jesse the entry, “Papel, C.W.I.”, and repeats Crane West Imports. This could be it. Jesse looks around and tells him this is it. This is where it all happened. It hasn’t changed a bit. Tad tells him to look around, maybe they’ll get lucky. Perhaps this place belongs to some associate of Papel’s. Jesse remembers the torture he suffered, and Tad asks if he’s okay? Jesse says yes, he just keeps flashing back on what happened here. He and Tad draw their guns when the door creaks; they burst out from behind several crates and almost scare Angie to death. Jesse lowers the gun and gasps, “Oh, my god! Angela, what the hell are you doing here?” Angie cries that she’s sorry! She just couldn’t sit at home knowing what they were trying to do! When Jesse insists it’s not safe here, Angie nods, “All right, then, fine. Let's all leave.” Tad tells her that Jesse’s right. It's too dangerous. She’s got to get out of here. They all turn at a sound behind them.

GIVING IT MY BEST SHOT…

Back in his hotel room, Ryan changes clothes and notes that nobody said he couldn’t have a crib sheet. He looks over his notes again and says he’s giving it his best shot, “And I am doing it all for you, Annie.” He looks at the note again, “Annie Novak McDermott Lavery.”

Ryan looks at his notes one last time, “Likes to go horseback riding, not terribly good. Italian food…,” before knocking on the door of the penthouse. When Annie answers the door, Ryan asks if she’s ready for their dinner date with Emma and Kathy at the pizza parlor? Or Italian? He thought they could… Annie tells him she completely forgot, and he asks if she’s okay? Annie says no, and sighs it’s just been kind of been a long day. She went to see Richie at the hospital… Richie’s her brother. Ryan asks if something happened? Annie says no, just the usual, and then realizes Ryan doesn’t know what that is. She sighs that he just basically tore down her life and took some pretty accurate shots about what's going on with him. Ryan asks if he can come in? Annie doesn’t think it’s a good idea. She just needs to be alone. They’ll take Emma to dinner another time. Ryan tries again, suggesting they could go and get some brick-oven pizza, but Annie says not tonight, and closes the door. On opposite sides of the door, both sigh.

NOBODY’S COMING TO GET YOU…

Colby gets in her car and turns the music up loud; she curses when it won’t start. Frankie comes up to the window and shouts for her to turn her music down—she’s flooding the engine! Colby gets out and says so he’s a mechanic, too, huh? They’re off the clock, so she doesn’t have to listen to his criticism. Besides, she knows a little something about cars, kind of. She opens the hood as she says she stole a couple back in the day. She looks at the engine and says it’s not flooded, something else is wrong. She gasps, “What the hell… Looks like someone tried to cut the wire.” Frankie laughs that somebody messed with her car? She’s been watching too many trashy horror flicks, “Nobody’s coming to get you.”
