At the hospital, Babe sighed that she thought Richie was over the hard part, but then out of nowhere, he got so sick. J.R. nodded, and then he went on the attack. He said he wanted to kill him, that he was going to finish it next time! Babe said he was delirious, and if he was going to give Richie a hard time… J.R. said no, he wouldn’t. He was there for her. He’d put up with Richie, take the abuse. He’d do just about anything for her. They were allowed to go in to see Richie, who suggested Babe leave J.R. there while she went to talk to Dr. Joe. He told J.R. that when he was well again, he could kiss Babe goodbye.
Babe was relieved to hear they expected Richie to fully recover. Joe told her that Jamie sent his love. He was well, and doing very good work with his Uncle Jake in Zambia. When Joe worried about why he hadn’t heard from Tad, Babe told him her mama said he was putting in long hours on a new case. She was sure he was fine, just working a little too hard.
J.R. said Richie might have been delirious when he made that threat to get him next time, but it was very real. So somewhere in that sick head of his, he thought he must have got him in the past. He held a pillow up to Richie’s face and said he’d better start explaining, or he was going to get him, “So you either start talking or you stop breathing!” Babe came back and exclaimed, “J.R.!” J.R. said he was just giving Richie another pillow to help him sit up. After they left, Richie flashed back to the bone marrow transplant, “I already got you once, J.R. Next time, you won't see it coming.”
NOT THIS TIME…
Angie told her that when Jesse died, there was nothing she could do. When Frankie went off to war, there was nothing she could do. And now, her husband was a target again, and her son had been kidnapped. They needed her, and she was not going to fail them, not this time. She was at Jesse’s bedside when he died, and she couldn’t see that he was still alive. She should have known. Krystal insisted none of it was her fault, and it was all part of the past. She was helping Jesse and Tad with their investigation. She got that Remy guy’s mama to hand over that box of stuff—that was a huge lead for them! Angie thought hat woman could know more than she let on. Krystal agreed she could, “Let’s go find out.”
YOUR FATHER IS DEAD…ISN’T HE?
Frankie freed Colby from the ropes, and noted now they just had to get out of here. Colby called that easy, they’d just get out the way they came. They tried to push on the door, to no avail. Frustrated and afraid, Colby exclaimed it wouldn’t move—they had to get out! Frankie motioned for her to be quiet when they heard a noise. Rafael opened the door to find Frankie and Colby still tied up and gagged. He told them to keep it down, or they’d have to be punished. He left, and Frankie and Colby threw off the ropes and gags they had quickly replaced. Asked who was doing this to them, Frankie said the man who wanted his father dead. Colby replied, “Your father is dead. Isn’t he?” Frankie filled her in to some degree, but said if his dad came there, he’d be dead. He was annoyed when she thought the kidnapping was for ransom from her father, but his manner softened when Colby cried that she didn’t want to be tortured. Frankie said no one was going to get anywhere near her, because he wasn’t going to let them. They found the panel, and used buckles from Colby’s shoes to work on loosening the screws.
THIS IS WHAT WE’RE UP AGAINST…
Tad refused to let Jesse take on this thing by himself, while Jesse shot the phone off the table to prevent Adam from calling the police or FBI. Tad insisted to Adam that they’d find the kids, but it had to be done their way. He filled him in on what was happening, but Adam refused to believe him until Jesse showed them the terrible scars on his back and said that’s what those maniacs were capable of, “This is what we’re up against.” Tad insisted he was not going to give himself up, and he was not going in alone, because he was going with him; Adam said he was going, too. Jesse got the call from Robert, who wanted to meet at a private airstrip at the edge of town. He was to come unarmed, and alone. Jesse handed Adam a gun; Adam agreed he knew how to use it. Jesse said his son was a soldier; he would survive this, and he would protect Colby. Jesse told Tad to give him a 15-minute lead; the friends told each other to be careful, and Jesse left.
MY NECKLACE…
Angie and Krystal arrived at Mrs. Remington’s house to find it had been ransacked, and Mrs. Remington lying on the floor, seemingly having a heart attack. As Krystal called for an ambulance, Mrs. Remington put a hand to her throat, “My necklace…” As Angie tried to calm her, insisting they’d find her necklace, the older woman gasped and closed her eyes. Angie said there was no pulse; she and Krystal used CPR as they worked together to try to save Mrs. Remington.
RIGHT ON TIME…
As Robert held Mrs. Remington’s necklace and looked at it, Rafael told him the old lady really didn't want to give that up. Robert shrugged that she wouldn’t miss it.
Adam angrily asked Tad how he could let this happen? It was lucky that his precious little daughter, Kate, had been raised by strangers, because he probably would have put her life in danger, too. Tad chose to let that one go because he knew the hell he was going through right now. Whether he liked it or not, they were working together tonight, “And if we don't, somebody's definitely not coming back alive. Got me?”
Rafael returned and says Hubbard was driving up to the hangar now.
As they drove to the airstrip, Adam got a sudden pain and clutched his chest. Seeing what was happening, Tad reached for the wheel as the car went out of control.
Jesse opened the door of the hangar and called out, “I'm here. Where are you?“ He was blinded by a bright light and heard Robert’s distorted voice, “Right on time.”
