TELL ME…

As Zach looked at the framed photo, Kendall came home. They looked at each other across the room, Kendall flashing back to that terrible night she and Aidan had sex in their grief, and Zach putting together the pieces of things she had said and done over the past several months. Kendall looked at the picture he was holding, and said her husband’s name. Zach held her gaze and asked, “Yes? Tell me.” Kendall hesitated and instead asked about the birthday party, and told him how grateful she and her mother were to him. When she said she loved him, Zach replied, “I never doubted that.” Kendall was taken aback when Zach said Annie told him about her and Aidan, but Zach cut her off with a passionate kiss. “What was that for?” she asked. Zach replied, “You love me, I love you. Always only you.” Kendall had tears in her eyes and turned away as she tries to tell him what it was like when he was missing, how she tried so hard to hold on, but there was nothing to hold onto, no hope, no choice, so she gave up. Every single part of her believed that he was gone forever. She thought that he was dead, and now she hated herself for that and for what she did. Zach told her to look at him, and Kendall tearfully admitted, “I slept with Aidan.” Zach replied, “I know.” Kendall desperately tried to tell him how and why it happened, but Zach didn’t want her to explain it. Kendall pleaded with him to listen to her. She felt sick the second after it happened, she felt disgusted and horrified. And he had to understand, she would regret this for the rest of her life, no matter what, but she was reaching out for him. She wanted him, but he was gone.

I’VE NOTICED A PATTERN…

Ryan had a session with a therapist, and told her what he had remembered. Asked how he felt about Kendall and Greenlee, Ryan said they had both moved on, so he needed to move on. The therapist told him that in her experience, not dealing with the past prevents one from adjusting to the present, and she knew this was very difficult. Ryan didn’t think she could possibly understand what he was going through, saying the past was like a trap, like a prison, “And I just will not live there anymore.” He told her he had convinced Annie to wait on filing the divorce papers, saying he remembered Kendall, and then Greenlee, and Annie had to be next. The therapist said she’d noticed a pattern. It seemed as though he’d remembered the positive memories, the ones that felt good, but not the ones that felt bad. Ryan asked if she was saying he didn’t remember Annie because it wasn’t good? “Because, I loved her. All right? Everybody says that I loved her. Everybody says that we were happy.” The therapist noted, “Everybody says it, but you don't feel it and you have to ask yourself, why is that, Ryan?” Ryan called her theory crap; he insisted he loved Annie, and he would love her again. He left, obviously upset by the conversation.

WILL YOU GIVE ME AWAY?

When Aidan put the ring on Greenlee’s finger, she said it felt right and immediately started planning the wedding of the century. She suggested they put a modern twist on the whole wedding-party thing. Zach would be her best man, and his best woman would be Kendall. She was the perfect choice! “You, me, Kendall, Zach, the four of us will always be connected because of what happened when we fell into that hole.” Aidan thought she wanted to forget about that. Greenlee agreed, the snake and the skeleton, yeah, but what she and Zach shared? No. They got close, and so did he and Kendall. Aidan said no. He and Kendall were friends, but he didn’t to make a spectacle out of that when they walk down the aisle. He’d rather a real best man, and he wanted to ask Tad. Tad showed up as they started to get busy again on the pool table, and was pleased at the good news. Aidan had a favor to ask him, “Will you give me away?” When he wanted Tad to help him plan a surprise elopement with Greenlee, Tad asked if he didn’t want their nearest and dearest to be there when they made it official? When he brought up Greenlee's soul sister and all-around gal pal, Kendall, Aidan insisted Kendall meant nothing to him and he was fed up hearing about special connection that he and Kendall were supposed to have! There wasn’t one, so leave it alone. Tad said as his best friend and partner, he was telling him, he’d been acting hinky for weeks. “Enough is enough. Out with it. What the hell is going on?”

HOW IS ANY OF THIS YOUR BUSINESS?

Livia stopped by Fusion, and was pleased that Ryan and Annie were on the same page about the divorce, having decided to hold off on it. Annie said if Ryan came back to her, she’d be thrilled, but if he didn’t, she’d survive. God knows she’d made it through a lot worse than life without Ryan.

Greenlee arrived with a bottle of champagne to celebrate her engagement, but Annie accused, “You're done messing with Ryan, so now it's all about messing with Aidan.” Greenlee insisted she wasn’t messing with Aidan, and if she couldn’t be happy for them, that was her problem. Annie told her that Aidan came to her apartment last night, drunk and confused because he asked her to marry him and she said no. Greenlee said first of all, that wasn’t true, “And second, how is this any of your business?” As Annie guessed that she only accepted Aidan’s proposal because she got rejected, again, by Ryan, Ryan arrived.

THAT’S THE BETRAYAL RIGHT THERE…

“Pain, agony, and despair,” Zach repeated, “I get it. I understand that, but you told me that I was the man that you trust completely with your heart, with your life.” Secrets and lies got them every time. If she had told him, they would have dealt with it together, but she shut him out over and over again, and that was the true betrayal right there. When did she stop trusting him? As she kept trying to explain how it had happened, Zach raised his voice for the first time and shouted, “I said stop!”
